  • You can also find a variety of black soap products at iherb.com http://www.iherb.com/Search?kw=black soap I have used Dr Woods soaps (for my hair, and hands) and like them very much! (I noticed Dr Woods on the list there, but I have not tried their …

  • oils, and water. Soap will dry out your skin. Then the skin will produce more oil to re-moisturize itself. Which can cause greasy skin & acne. I use coconut, palm, and avocado oils on my skin, and rinse well with warm water on a wash cloth.

  • Find out if you have a co-op in your area. I get really great deals on local fruit & veggies in the summer that way. daniefon: I never have been drawn to the elaborate stuff. I mean, some of it sounds really good, and yes, some of it is fun to m…

  • Mikfizzle I use Real Salt. http://www.realsalt.com I eliminated table salt a couple decades ago, due to the additives. When I occasionally now have foods that are salted with regular table salt (as when socializing) I have woke the next day puffy, a…

  • Just an FYI: Do watch your labels, folks, when buying rice vinegar. If it says "Seasoned Rice Vinegar" it has sugar added.

  • I'd like to know about this, too. (Bumping to the front page.)
  • I guess I really did side step responding about peanuts, though- sorry. I do eat peanut butter, but I am not 100%. I wouldn't eat peanuts raw, though. Can't remember the reason, but heard that they shouldn't be eaten raw. I've seen them sold raw, bu…
  • I am finding more and more issues going on in my body with nuts, too. I do best (actually, no problems at all) when the nuts are used for nutmylks. Maybe you will enjoy them more that way, and have less issues with them too. Worth a try?
  • I have not read all of this, but found these sentences, referring to black beans and kidney beans: "Both beans belonging to Phaseolus vulgaris were very toxic in the raw state causing the death of all the experimental animals within a week." "it is …

  • Folks have gotten sick from eating undercooked beans from a crockpot, and it was found that Black beans and Kidney beans should not be consumed raw, or undercooked. "Hemagglutinins" is the word I am coming up with on a quick search, but I will see i…

  • Beans that won't sprout are not viable, ie: dead. But beyond that, Black beans should *not* be eaten raw, whether sprouted or not!

  • Yeah, they will crystallize; it is natural. Heating keeps that from happening. Some types, such as Tupelo, are less likely. I'm not crazy about the ones that get granular; *feels* like regular sugar is in it, and I don't care for that texture. I hav…

  • I use raw honey too. No, it is not vegan, but not all raw foodist are vegan. I also vouch for the allergy information, and the antiseptic properties too, if using *raw* honey. Yep, the stuff at the grocery store is pasteurized, and becomes nothing b…

  • I'm curious, rawisbeauty, what are you using to make the handmade soap? Thinking much of that has glycerin, too. (Saponification of oils produces glycerin.)

  • I've seen that on avocados, but never on a mango. I don't eat the avocados like that, but can't say that it's actually bad for you. Sorry, I don't know- but this post will bump it to the front page, so more will see it- hopefully you will get an ans…
  • Aw, bitt~ Ok, you've got me wondering...How would I know? (I haven't even had a chance to get into it yet...) I hadn't even considered...ugh. What do I look for?

  • vegan2raw~ Thanks a bunch! Sounds good! I have everything you have listed there, too. :) lulushka8~ I *adore* mulberries, and I have them! I will try that one too! I am not much for lucuma, nor gojis, so I will likely pass on the second idea- but ma…

  • Thx Joyce~ Yeah, I actually do have Sweet Gratitude. Haven't pulled it out since I got it. Looked it over quite a bit, and drooled much, but then it was put on the shelf... lol. Thanks for the reminder! ;) Thanks for the links, too-- I'll check 'em …

  • Thanks KarinaFirebreather, I don't have dry skin. But maybe that's because I use oils every day. I use a mixture of virgin coconut, virgin palm, and avocado oils. I drop a vanilla bean in there to make it smell nice.

  • I guess it depends on your point of view. I feel it is fast, because I used to have a manual. But it does take a bit of time, putting each handful in at a time. Way faster than hand cranking! I think there is a video on their site, that shows it wor…
  • Hmmm, I have my doubts on the pesticide claims, but don't have any science to back it up. (BTW, I have a GreenLife, predecessor to the Green Star, and I think it works great!)
  • The only thing I have tried by mom and me is the buckwheaties (very good!). Not a bread, but she may feel good about you eating buckwheat "cereal". This post will bump this to the front page, so more folks might see it. Maybe someone else has tried …
  • I've heard of it. Never tried it. Am curious, and just may some day. It's not likely to be raw. I would think it would be processed much like maple crystals. But that is a guess, being that they are both sap.
  • You can eat the sprouts at about 2 days or less. Once it becomes grass it is too difficult for the body to digest the fiber, and you will need to strain it, either manually after blending, or via a juicer. Yes, you can use them roots and all if hydr…
