  • 25, but I look much younger since I’ve gone raw. I think it’s because I’m so thin. I get carded for 18+ type stuff ALL the time, and nobody thinks I look old enough to be drinking. It’s fun too, if people overhear me talking about graduating… they a…
  • Renoir, I’ve been eating sorta like that too lately. Raw for breakfast and lunch. Then raw and cooked for dinner. Lately I’ve been heating up a big pot of water and lightly steaming some greens and onions. Then I add a ton raw veggies(red pepper, en…
  • 123, you are absolutely correct. Sorry, skizzy and others, but you are way off. Ron Paul is not homophobic or a racist. There is a lot of slander out there against him, but none of it is true if you actually do a little research. I don’t agree with …
  • Oh, another tip… When you use the mandolin, press the vegetable down firmly on both the forward and back stroke, rather than lifting it and re-positioning it each stroke. (I hope that makes sense.) It just seems to work easier like this.

  • Ummm… I’ve sliced my fingers twice. Not too bad, but the blade is really, really sharp. I tend to be sorta clutsy, so it could just be me. The guard thing actually works pretty good, but usually I don’t use it. I am planning to buy one of those food…

  • I have a Benriner (japanese) I bought on ebay. I love it. SO useful! But then again, I do NOT have a food processor…

  • I love Fuyus! I always peel them with a vegetable peeler first. It’s fun because I can get the whole peel off in one giant spiral. It’s like a game every time. Then just eat ‘em up!

  • I really like the clean look it’s got right now. I agree that beautiful photos of recipes are more important than flashy graphics.
  • When I first went raw I ate RIDICULOUS amounts of food! Like… really outrageous, seemingly impossible quantities. But that was before I got my dehydrator, so it was mostly fresh stuff. Now I don’t eat as much. I’ll still eat HUGE salads every once i…
  • Hey BirdOfParadise! Nice owl! I’m into birds, too. I don’t know a whole lot about raptors, but I have a pair of Solomon Island eclectus parrots as pets. I’m also a biologist, I’m getting my Master’s in Fisheries/Marine Biology, though. I wouldn’t wo…

  • Rawuniverse2, Personally I find it appalling that you allow (and seem happy about!) your dogs killing wild animals. If you knew anything about ecology, you would know that bird populations in the United States are depressed from feral cats and other…
  • Yep, asian markets are best. I get them for 1.79 each or 14.50 for a case (9).

  • raw for about 4 months. not 100%. i’ve cheated occassionally, and i totally went back to SAD for a weekend while i was out-of-town. felt terrible after cooked food, though, so more motivation to stick with raw. benefits of raw: lost 15 pounds. more …
  • I’m having leftover pumpkin curry over softened eggplant. I need to buy a lime on the way home because it’s really good with lime and I’m all out. I posted the pumpkin curry recipe last night. It’s really good, quick to make, and you could make it l…
  • I just made Matt’s onion bread for the first time last week and it turned out great. I used 3 onions, but I sliced them very, very, thinly using a mandolin. Almost paper thin. I also blended a small amount of onion with the oil and nama shoyu. Mixed…
  • Hey Bluedolphin! I have a recipe book exactly like you suggested! 3 ring binder, clear cover, 8-tab dividers. My sections are: breakfast, breads/chips, sauces, spreads, soups, salads/sides, entrees, and desserts. I also have a whole bunch of resourc…

  • I quit today. First off, I had to go offshore and scuba dive today. The seas were rough with 3-5 foot rollers and I drank a lemonade before we left. The cayenne plus the high seas was a terrible combination and I was nauseous and burping and miserab…
  • namadetaberu, Haha. Yep, I had that. I called it the “hell-fire shits”... pretty accurate description I think. It was very bad the first few days, but it’s gotten less and less. I think for me maybe it was the cayenne. But now my body has gotten mor…
  • Almost done with day 5 (half-way point for 10 day cleanse -yay!) and still feel ok. My trip offshore was cancelled due to the weather, so no worries about wearing a wetsuit today. I’m also getting kinda bored with the lemonade, but I can handle it. …
  • Day 4 for me, too. Nothing much has changed. Still easy with no detox symptoms. I only drank 16 ounces for the salt water flush this morning and I think that was fine. I’m not a very big person. I’m sorta nervous about tomorrow. The plan is to go of…
  • Hi Sita, Welcome on board! You should know that I too enjoy sashimi, so don’t feel like you’re the only one. Hey, it’s still raw! =:) It’s nice to hear that some of you have been doing MCs for awhile now. That’s what I’d like to do. I think I might…
  • I’m here. Doing good. Near the end of my second day. I did the salt water flush again this morning (even though I said I wasn’t going to). I drank it through a straw and the taste wasn’t bad. But, it didn’t seem to have quite as strong an effect as …
  • Wow, I did the salt water flush this morning… No thank you! That stuff is harsh. Now my bum is so sore! It would be funnier if it was someone else’s bum. Ouch. =( I think I’ll wait a few days until I try it again. Senna tea should be enough for me. …
  • Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe it is 1 quart water with two TEAspoons sea salt. Everything else sounds right.
  • I’m starting tomorrow. I just ate my “last meal”, which was just me pigging out on everything left in the fridge. I’m going to drink senna tea tonight right before bed, then do the salt water flush first thing in the morning. Honestly, it’s the salt…
  • I’m in. =) Yay! I once had a really easy, fabulous time with a 10 day juice fast (which kicked off my transition to raw). I’m curious to see what the MC is like. I’ve been wanting to try it for awhile. I might not be able to do it for too long thoug…
  • Hmmm… curezone.com is a giant natural healing forum. Maybe that would work. Lots of people share good info there and you can browse threads about the topics you are interested in.
  • Why would brushing it wet be bad? I don’t blow-dry my hair, I just let it dry naturally. If I didn’t brush it in the shower, or right after I got out, I think it would be a mess to try to brush it later once it was dry. I think it’s okay. My hair do…
  • My guess is new hairs, too. “You can actually see all the broken little hairs on the top and down the sides of my head,” I see those on my head, lots of new hairs. Could just be me though, I shed like crazy! I read these posts by people worried thei…
