  • I just got a Vita-Mix blender and while I was waiting for it my Cuisinart food processor broke after about 12 years of use. After learning about how the Vita-Mix could "dry chop" and "wet chop vegetables" I decided not to try to repair or replace th…
  • I've wondered if one could pickle sprouted garbanzo beans to soften them up, either by the lacto-fermentation method (like raw sauerkraut) or by adding water, vinegar and salt and putting them in the fridge like I read about in The Complete Idiot's …
  • I recommend the Thrive Diet by Brendan Brazier. It’s not all raw, but is all vegan and could easily be modified to be all raw. Brendan Brazier a successful professional athlete.

  • Suzyq’s jar idea is a good way to start. People often use fiberglass insect screening as a cover on sprouting jars. Always rest your jar mouth-down at a 90 degree angle and don’t overfill it with seeds. If you are sprouting larger seeds and beans, y…

  • Thank you for the suggestion sweetpea. I ended up ordering two of Ann Wigmore’s books used on half. I’m still waiting for them. I hope they come soon! I really need them.

  • As I recall, Rose Vasile soaks steel-cut oats in her book, “Uncooking with Raw Rose.” These won’t germinate at all because they are cut, but they should be easier to chew.
  • I would be super careful using a space heater because of the risk of fire. Never put anything on or against a space heater that is combustible or that would cause it to overheat from lack of ventilation.
  • Thank you all for your good advice. I just made a green smoothie with romaine lettuce, apples, celery, fresh lemon juice and a little stevia powder, not bad. I think I’ll get better at this with practice. I added a little bit at a time, blending in …
  • So even my cheap blender breaks down the cellulose in plants better than my jaws. That answers my question. I’ll try your method of blending it next time.
  • I tasted one at the Mediterranean Deli/Market near me. I ate the whole thing, fuzzy hull and nut, and it was good. I also tried a green cherry, also good. Try eating your almonds whole, and if the market has the green cherries, ask if they would let…

  • I think I know what you’re talking about. It looks like a whole fuzzy green little unripe fruit? I’ve never had one, but I saw them at the Mediterranean Deli/Market near me and asked the owner about them. He said that people just eat them like snack…
