Hi – thanks for starting this thread where raw Christians can identify themselves. Isn’t it great to be on this journey together?
In 1970, God lifted me up out of a life of sin, shame, and confusion and filled me with His Spirit. I’ve never regretted surrendering my heart to the Lord. He took my life of despair and transformed it into one of joy and deep contentment. What a God!
I’ve been eating raw (more or less) for not quite 3 months and I have no regrets here, either. It certainly has been a paradigm shift for me, and like many of you, I also have a non-raw husband and daughter to cook for. I just try to sneak in as much raw food as I can – here a little, there a little. ;-)
Some days seem harder than others—especially when I’m busy w/ other things, so I’m very thankful, in particular, for all the extra “simple” recipes I’ve found here. I’ve also enjoyed a few of the more complicated or time-consuming recipes, but I need to add a number of those “ready in 5 minutes” dishes to my repertoire.
My best friend, also a Christian, just recently went raw after I made a bunch of yummy raw pates, breads, and other dishes and took them to her house to share them for lunch. She was blown away over how delicious everything was. Since then, I took over as organizer of the Cincinnati Raw Foods Meetup group and have gotten together w/ other raw-foodies for 3 potlucks so far.
Eating raw is one more area of my life where God helps me to exercise self-discipline. I certainly haven’t arrived yet, but I’m on my way! :-)
I like the English custom for acronyms, I have learned a new one!
As far as I know there is not any indication of how food (neither for Daniel & Co. nor for the others) was prepared. In Daniel 1:5 nothing is said: http://scripturetext.com/daniel/1-5.htm “Pulse & water” may indicate a living diet IF pulse is related with Latin “pulsus” and not just to Latin “puls”. The problem with “puls” is that it seems to arrive Latin via Etruscan, and as far as I know there is not much information on Etruscan language. The greek word “poltos” (porridge) doesn’t seem to be related to the greek word “pallein” (swing). So I don’t see how to go from pulse (seed) to pulse (throb) or vice versa, but there could a way…
Leviticus 11:37-38 drives me crazy. I don’t know if i understand it. I think that if the seed isn’t wet then it is “die” so perhaps that could explain why there is not problem if a carcase falls upon it. If it is wet then it is alive, so it becomes impure if in contact with mentioned carcase. So I agree with you the most reasonable seems to think that those wet seeds are for sprouts!! (i’ll try to think in an alternative interpretation, just to make as devil’s advocate).
Ezequiel 4: The guidelines for making the bread seems to me as a “punishment”, God says that they all will eat “impure”/”unclean”/”defiled” bread. So I think that is an exception, not a forever rule.
I have not understand your first question: “What about zeroim or zereonim is that used?”
Do you mean what kind of zeroim they ate? If that is the case, I have no idea, i think that in the whole book of Daniel there is not a clue about that. It would be interesting to know.
Now that you have mentioned the workbook, there is a book on seeds in the Mishna (“Zeraim”) i don’t know if there will be information on these issues.
Far enough, have a good day!
Hello,
i’ll read Ezekiel again, that is the impression i had, but i’ll take a look and see.
There is a word that appears in Spanish which is “germen” (sprout) to refer to God, I guess. In the English version it says “Branch” (i’m not very sure about the meaning of this word i thougt it means “group” or something like that). In Hebrew is “tsemach” (sprout). But there is another word “netzer” which means sprout too, i don’t which is the difference, i’ve read that the first one (tsemach) is used more literally and the other (netzer) more figuratively, but i have no idea. Perhaps this can be another way to keep on researching about living diet/living food etc.
I wasn’t going to sign up for yet another forum, but I saw this discussion and just had to chime in. I’m an Apostolic Christian and have been vegetarian for a year now. I am just starting to tweak my diet again to add more raw foods. I started with a juice feast last week, and am now on to the exciting part of trying all the new recipes :)
i am too a follower of The Way. im glad to see so many lovers of Christ, into raw foods. It is kind of thin ice for most people to talk about raw food around Christians because they have not experienced raw food and its different to them. and different is wrong untill you can prove it right. its just kind of annoying haha. but hang in there. i believe that eating meat is alright, but i do believe that eating no meat is healthier. no where in the Bible does it say that eating meat is healthier. also there are a couple scriptures saying otherwise, though the one i am thinking of in Daniel supposedly was referring to meat that was unclean. but still, they ate veggies and were better looking and “fatter” than the rest of the men. haha. hang in there guys. have an awesome day
May God bless you all richly. I am a raw, vegan, Hard-core, born-again, Jesus-loving, Baptized in the Holy Spirit, Tongue-Speaking child of the Most High God.
I live in Nigeria, West Africa and I believe that I am one in 10 million who is raw.
I am an author. I have written one book called- “Living Longer, Living Stronger” on increasing our lifespan. I am working on my second book on brain longevity.
I joined this group after finding this particular post area.
I want to connect with all of you who love Jesus, particularly on the raw food tip, scripturaly and practically.
I mainly fruits and some veggies. I eat simply- I am not into processing.
I am into sustainable living and organic food, though both are not popular here. (Believe it or not, alot of the food in Nigeria is grown with chemicals!)
It is refreshing to find this thread. God made His eating agenda very clear in Genesis 1.
Just as we are living spirits serving a Living God, washed in Living Blood, inhabited by His Living Spirit and we read the Living Word, we also need to eat Living food physically to maximize His purpose for our lives on the planet.
If you can’t build a living spirit on dead words, then you can’t build a living body on dead food!
Enough for now. I would love to hear from you!
joypeace, hey!! I’ve read your blog the other day! funny I run into you here. small world…lol blessings!
Thought I’d chime in as well.. I’m also Christian.. trying to maintain an 80% raw diet.. though I’m not yet fully vegan.. though I’m considering it.
hey beany, sorry i meant joypeace’s blog. pulse, I can’t remember the site address, sorry.
Hello! Jesus Freak here also!!! LOL! And darn proud of it. I’m not 100% raw YET, but trying to get there. God Bless! :-)
Hey my people.
Sorry for the late response. My blog is at : http://longerstrongerliving.blogspot.com/2007/0…
I have not updated in a while, but I think I need to refresh the site. Please give me your comments. Naturodude- how did you find my blog?
Peace.
Hey pulse- do you have any pictures of yourself?
PEACE, everyone.
On the area of to have or not to have problems- when my pastor was asked during an interview if he had problems, he answered that maybe they came and he didn’t know it. I too have imbibed this scripturally-aligned frame of mind. Problems are not the portion of the Sons of God. As many of you have rightfully pointed out, Ps. 91 offers some powerful nuggets of this Truth.
For every believer in Christ, no evil (or problems) shall befall you, neither any plague come nigh your habitation (Ps. 91:10).
Problems DO exist, but they are not the portion of the righteous. They may TRY to come around you, but the Bible makes it quite clear: A thousand (problems) shall fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but IT SHALL NOT COME NEAR YOU! (Ps. 91:7).
AMEN AND AMEN!
Pulse- I went through the “ugly duckling” stage for about 8 months. If you send me a picture, I will advise you on how to make the most of it. PEACE
WOW ~ look at all the raw Christians!
I have been trying to focus on increasing whole, unprocessed foods in my diet and tripped across the “raw” lifestyle a few weeks ago. I immediately said to myself, “that’s so extreme … I don’t think I could ever do that” but no matter what I do or say, I keep thinking about it and researching it. Maybe I could do it.
As I learn more about this healthy way of eating, I’m wondering what people use as creamer in their coffee. I have decreased my coffee/caffeine consumption dramatically but am not interested in deleting it from my life all together … any ideas?
Hi ya’ll. Count me in as a redeemed child of God, saved by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It’s so encouraging to see so many Christians respond to this thread. I’ve felt more like a fish out of water being a christian in raw world with so much eastern mysticism associated with it, than I have in eating lots of raw in the christian world, but maybe that’s because I’m not 100% raw, so can blend in bringing raw stuff to potlucks, or ordering salads eating out. Anyway it’s great to read what each of you have written.
I am soooo happy I found this forum. I just started this raw food journey about 2 weeks ago and I am also a Born Again Believer who loves Jesus. There is something that has really been bothering me. I have been feeling quite anxious lately and even losing sleep over it. I’m hoping someone can encourage me or even shed light on what I am feeling. I have been eating “healthy” for a few years now. I eat organic as much as the budget will allow and stay away from processed foods. I am so drawn to anything that has to do with “living green”, especially nutrition. I have read countless books on different diets. I have done detox diets, colon cleanses, etc. This is such a passion for me. BUT, nothing has captured my attention like this whole “raw food” thing. I went to a local raw food fest a couple of weeks ago. The food was absolutely amazing. The people were all so nice. It felt like such a “community”. Everybody had the same passion, which was to eat raw food. But, here is my problem. Even though I love being a part of this whole raw food “movement”, with it seems to come a lot of new agey beliefs. You know, where people worship the creation and not the Creator. Where they don’t even believe in Jesus or His work on the cross. I know a lot of these people also believe that their power comes from within ourselves and not from the Lord. At this raw food fest there was even a tarot card reader. I am wanting to join my local raw food meetup group, but I’m afraid of connecting myself with people that have these beliefs. I am really seeking the Lord on this, but I am feeling like I can’t hear from Him because I am feeling too anxious and fearful. I really believe that this is the way to eat. I feel great since implementing more raw foods into my diet. I have even thought about getting ladies involved in my church and talking to them about raw foods. I decided last week that I would have some friends over to show them a movie (Raw for 30 Days) and then make a couple of raw food dishes. Well, I got an email yesterday from a girl from the Raw Food Fest. She asked if I wanted to have a raw food chocolate party. This is what she does for a living. She teaches people about raw foods and then makes some awesome chocolate treats. The ingredients she uses she sells (www.noblelifeelements.com). I told her maybe we could just do my “party” together. She even has the video I wanted to show, so I wouldn’t have to fork out $30 for it. I really enjoyed talking to her and she seems really nice. But then she started talking about a product she uses called Gold Rush. It’s colloidal gold. I told her I have taken colloidal silver in the past. She said that colloidal silver is for the body. Colloidal gold is for the spirit. I thought, “Oh, here we go!” Now I don’t know if I should partner up with this lady.
I’m sorry for the long post. I am just so needing Godly input and encouragement. My heart longs to do the right thing and to be pleasing to the Lord. Thanks for listening!
I am a Christian too. It is so good to see others on this site! Raw can be for everybody. Have any of you heard of the Hallelujah Diet? It is mostly raw and based on Genesis 1:29 among other verses.
Mornin Beany, How long have you been 100% raw. My DH and I are trying this out. We are probably 96% raw right now. we have been on the Hallelujah Diet for 3 years. However, just in this past month I have become quite anemic. Very discouraging. Trying to up the greens and such. Any suggestions? Anyone? I did read someone suggesting a juice in the mornings of kale, celery, and cukes. I am trying it. First dose this morning. Not bad.
rosehebrew, I know what you mean. I thought our diet change would be much better recieved by family and friends than it was. We have been taught so many things that are just not true for so long, it’s hard for people to get past.
Yes I do sprout legumes but still haven’t developed a taste for the sea veggies except in tiny amounts in things. You?
Slcogliano, you have some good thoughts there. We are ambassadors for Christ. How people see us will influence how they see Jesus.
Hi, simplyorganic…just wanted to say to look at James 1, the promise for wisdom from God that is there for the asking. Don’t jump into anything that makes you fearful and anxious, just pray for God to guide you and lead you and shepherd you in all your decisions. Blessings to you.
Glad to see so many Christians eating raw out there! I believe that we are just in training for the ‘dinner’ in heaven it will be all raw…no death in Heaven! We started out on a 21 day Daniel Fast and we felt so great that we continued on and we believe God opened the door for us to be raw. It’s been wonderful. We are not 100%. We found what works for us which is about 80-90% depending on the day. When we ‘fast’ with our church it is easier for us to go on that water fast or juice or even just 100%. My husband has lost over 60 lbs in only 4 months and looks great. I too lost weight…but along with it most of my hair! So…I am trying to figure that one out. We feel better and the food is so much better in the raw! Good to go back to the Garden!
Hey everybody! Michael here. It’s so good to see so many people committed to spiritual AND physical health! isn’t it easier to have both when you have one, eh? People at my church can be so resistent to knowing that ALL of us can become whole and healed.
Many blessings to everybody here! :-)
In the midst of battling a severe case candida for the past couple of years or more, I found raw foodism which, in conjunction with coconut oil, has helped to alleviate my symptoms somewhat. I am far from 100% raw because I am still addicted to some cooked food (including McDonalds! blech! what’s wrong with me?!). I asked God to help in Yah’Shuah’s name and since then was led to much research starting with watching episodes of “You Are What yOU Eat” on the BBCA and then going on to reading various Candida-oriented books and books written by Kevin Trudeau and even joining the “natural cures” website for a time in my quest to overcome Candida. I have found the Candida-control diets to be far too limiting because I am a sweets-o-holic. I figured that not eating fruit seems retarded and then I found out about raw foodists and their practices. At the very least, I have learned to include far more fruits and vegetables (duh!) in my diet (usually raw) over time and that has helped me to feel better but I still have a long way to go and I can’t afford to get a vita-mix, excalibur or nut milk bags and such plus the raw diet itself is pricey on the foods so this is difficult for me. Organic is preferred but just so dang expensive. Pray for me that I can get what I need! I am a homemaker (I hate to even say it)with two beautiful children (they really are!) at ages of 5 years old (girl) and 10 months old (boy). I need all of the prayer and strength I get from fellow followers of Christ to both overcome illness and financial distresses, hopefully growing more and more not only in health but also spiritually in the process. God bless! :-)
Hello everyone. Greetings and blessings to you all.
I am new to the goneraw family and looking to connect with other christians who support caring for the temple.
Hey everybody! I just wanted to chime in and say hi to everyone! Great discussion going on. Have the best day ever! :-)
Love—-Michael

Hey troublesjust! :-)
Have you checked out www.juicefeasting.com ? You might find a TON of great info at that site—not about water fasting, but about cleansing and getting lighter through “juice feasting.” I’ve starting incorporating principles of that program into my life, even though I’m not doing it in total.
Hi. Are there any raw Christians in Minnesota? I live south of Minneapolis and would like to talk to someone who knows the area and where to get good deals etc.
I’m a christian. How is everyone doing? Met someone while shopping today whom introduce my husband and I to this website. Thanks new friend! We look forward to trying new Raw recepies!
