I have eaten too much actually but I'm in a munchy mood today so I might have some mango later and a glass of wine with my Dad.
Hi- my husband and I dove into the raw end of the pool 15 days ago. We are doing 90-95% raw, and so far, so good.
Today, we juiced watermelon, romaine lettuce and apple, lemon for Breakfast.
Lunch: emerald kale salad - shredded two heads of kale, marinated with braggs, sesame oil, garlic, olive oil, sesame seeds and flax seeds. YUMMY.
Snack: Peach Crumble (found the recipe on here) Peaches came off our peach tree.
Snack: Tomato basil and spinach raw soup.
Dinner: Portabello Mushroom Fajitas, sauteed red/yellow peps and onion and mushrooms in pear balsamic vinegar and olive oil, wrapped in sprouted grain tortilla with avocado.
Also had leftover Emerald Kale salad.
now we're having a beer. :)
Today I had:
1 cantaloupe
4 apricots (so happy they are in season!!)
salad w/ salsa for dressing (my new favorite thing!)
2 apples
blended soup
I am trying to come up with other things for my afternoon snack - I always need something around 2 and I crave fruit but have been reading more on how fruit is better digested in the morning.....
As my garden grows I am hoping to add more herbs to the salad for flavor...now learning what goes well together!
I have a question everyone...really need answer, how do u keep being raw and still have a fun social life( which usually involves drinking, eating- there comes the problem, they hardly have raw food). so do you just say No am a raw vegan and reject their food or do u eat and continue your diet next day?? i want to know how u deal with that???
thnks!!!
so far today..
sliced organic strawberries and bananas sprinkled with freshly ground flax seed and vanilla powder
a few pieces of dehydrated mango
16oz juice of romine spinach kale celery apple red grapes carrot with a scoop of E3, maca, and hemp powder
green smoothie with romaine banana blueberries almond milk and a scoop of E3, maca, and hemp powder
I went strawberry picking today in the woods near my house, ended up eating them right there instead of bringing 'em back. Birds got to em a little bit, but that's alright, I don't mind sharing. Found a few huckleberry and blackberry trees too!
Watermelon.
:)
Mmmmmm....
Hmmm. Today. Protein shake w frozen blueberries & strawberries. Had a really delicious apple (chilled in fridge). Sunflower seeds. Drinking water; missed my a.m. coffee. A nice mixed green salad w home-blended olive oil/balsamic dressing. An afternoon protein shake w frozen berries, followed by an Alissa Cohen recipe which I tweak - raw vegan "Pad Thai" (from p. 396, Living on Live Food). In future I"m going to SOAK mung sprouts a few hours in nama shoyu or Bragg's liquid aminos to give them a bit of flavor. Prepared squash (noodle substitute) with food processor, cutting slices so finely. (Don't have a spiralizer yet.) Squash slicing was done super fast! Sauce to go over squash & mung sprouts is: raw almond butter, fresh ginger, some orange juice, honey, and Bragg's. Maybe later we'll post our adaptation of the recipe.
Good luck with your move. You hardly had any breakfast! Especially for someone as busy as you these days.
Breakfast: Cinnamon banana and almond milk smoothie.
Lunch: A peach and a coconut larabar.
Middafternoon snack: Handful of walnuts.
Dinner: A mango.
what are sharon fruits?
Today:
1 apple
2 bananas
bowl of chopped cucumber + tomato + red onion (like a little salsa/salad)
eventually I'm going to have some oatmeal (not raw)
and I did sneak some coffee w/ soy milk.
a lot of the following:
cantaloupe
banana
blueberries
orange juice
blackberries
pineapple
strawberries
spinach
watermelon
bell pepper
tomatoes
carrots
raspberries
pixx: thanks for the links I definitely need to check into that.
I just wasn't hungry so it was hard to keep eating. I had a mushroom, tomato and spinach "sandwich" for dinner and some brown rice and another apple.
Okay okay, so how's this for enough food: (seriously, I need feedback)
this is what I have planned for today:
coffee + soy milk
2 bananas, 1 tbsp organic peanut butter
oatmeal
1 apple
3 c chopped romaine lettuce with 1 avocado, juice of 1 lemon, tomato, red and white onion, cilantro
15 baby carrots
a bunch of asparagus spears, steamed brown rice, more of the same kind of salad from above depending on how much romaine I have at home
water water water
superfood2: I'm transitioning. I just gave up meat and dairy 2 days ago!! Definitely new to raw too. Need to go shopping.
also:
pixx: I LOVE the fitday.com website. It is awesome!! Thank you so much what a great tip
Its kinda rough. Everyone I know is pretty much freaking out about it. And my stomach has been acting up.
You know when you eat fatty cheeseburgers and caramel lattes all day nobody says a word about your nutrients, but when you cut out meat and want to eat raw veggies/fruits everyone is suddenly a nutritionist and wants to make sure you're getting your protein, which of course you can't get without meat!!! (pffft)
the fitday.com website actually helped me stive off an ignorant friend who insisted I couldn't get the nutrients I needed from my new "radical" diet, I'm getting 200% of today's needs (minus vitamin d and calcium) and I'm not even eating that raw! I asked her to compare her diet and she's less than 10% on most. So there! (I know it's not a competition but these people's objections are getting a little bit ridiculous)
Smoothie with 3 cups strawberries + 2 bananas (didn't have anything green to add >.< )
1 chopped lrg cucumber + 2 diced tomatoes + 1 diced red onion + EVOO
10 organic baked tortilla chips
2 bananas
2 slices of whole grain wheat bread
a large bundle of asparagus
handful of cauliflower/broccoli
and a cupcake *wince*
I must do better tomorrow!
normally I wouldnt have put myself in that situation, but it was a 3 year olds birthday party!! ack.
at least I easily avoided the hamburgers lol
Way to go, neskalee! You're doing great job transitioning! Just stick with it, don't dwell on the accidental give-ins... just don't do it again!! haha
So far:
5 bananas
8 large, juicy, organic, magically delicious, white peaches... oh my god.
1 apricot
1 apple
2 tomatoes
I need to go get more of those peaches, they are the most delicious thing I think I have ever tasted in my life. I just got them today, hoping they would last for a few days and I ate them all for lunch! Woops...
5am: hot matcha with hemp milk (am I already off to a "NON-RAW" start??)
9am: shake with peach, strawberry, spinach, juice of orange, maca, vanilla whey powder
noonish: 1/4 C raw sprouted garbanzo hummus with 2 or 3 celery stalks, 3 or 4 big bites of taboule
All Day: small handfuls of DELIGHTFUL cherry tomatos (equivalent to 3/4 basket)
5-ish: 16 oz juice of spinach, celery, cuke, kale, parsley, apple, ginger
All Day: 1/2 handful of raw cashews
7: Leaf Cuisinw Kickin Kale Chips - 3 (chips, not packages!) with some of the afore mentioned tomatos
...and for dinner I'm (lightly) sauteing sprouted tofu, scallions, red onion, asparagus, shredded carrot, celery in a lemon/mustard/braggs marinade
Haha thanks guys.
Today I didn't do very well on the raw.
I had:
my coffee w/ soy milk
2 bananas
1 apple
2 nectarines
oatmeal
stirfry of asparagus, carrots, onions, mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower with steamed white rice >.< (kind of had to eat it since my dad's gf prepared it to meet my new vegetarian life change she had heard about lol)
guacamole and organic baked tortilla chips
gallons of water
next time Ill eat the guac with a spoon!
Hehe, sorry pixx! I agree, the conventional are not even in the same league as the organic! I ate a conventional when I ran out of organic and it was significantly less juicy (not to mention, half the size!)
So far:
3 bananas
2 cantaloupes
2 mangoes
2 apricots
Luluska8: Thank you!! I do feel much better. Im already losing interests in meats/dairy and I actually got sick from drinking some raspberry iced tea (the sugary canned processed preservative filled kind), im not sure if that's coincidental or not but I'm sticking to water 100% from now on anyway.
I feel better without the heaviness. Even the rice last night made me feel weighed down. I'm very surprised. And I've been losing a lot of weight too :)!! yay yay yay
This is my first time post on this thread - I've been raw for about a month and I'd say I was 90% raw. Here is what I ate yesterday:-
- Lemon and ginger water, 1/4 pineapple, blueberries, strawberries, banana sprinkled with ground almonds and whole almonds, agave syrup
- 2 slices of melon and some nuts
- Homegrown rocket and salad leaves, blueberries, spring onion, cucumber with a tomato, parsley, tahini and balsmic vinegar dressing
- 1 apple
- 1 slice of sprouted bread with 1/2 avocado
- 1 banana
I have real trouble in the evening to stop picking on cake etc (have this for the other half). I'm not hungry or do I want it but it is a bad habit that I am trying to get out of!
Yesterday:
coffee + soy milk
1 banana
a huge amount of grapes
20 baby carrots + 2tbsp organic pb (not raw)
raw broccoli & cauliflower
guacamole (half an avocado + garlic + pico de gallo + extra extra onion)
stir fry veggies and white rice again
water water water
I still feel great tho!!
We're having a pot luck at work tomorrow which is stressing me out but Im bringing fruit so Ill just bring extra for me in case everything else is scary meat filled dairy products lol
And Saturday I'm comitted to trying to make my whole day 100% raw.
So regarding fats:
How many grams do most of you consume in a single day? What's a healthy range?
edit: Today I ate 42 grams from organic peanut butter and avocado, I'm afraid that's way too much!! =X
Breakfast /Lunch Smoothie: 2 bananas, 2 pears, 3 cups spinach, 1 tsp maca, 6 oz water/ice.
Dinner: Cucumber pasta (2 cucumbers spiralized) with 2 medium tomatoes, 1/2 cup of spinach, a handful of cilantro/basil, olive oil, sea salt and a dusting of shredded raw goat cheese.
Right now: 2 raw brownies with raspberry sauce. Can't believe it took me 14 minutes to prepare, clean up, and sit down to eat. :)~~
According to fitday.com, since I cut out meat and dairy (8 days) I've been doing about 10% protein, 63% carbs and 27% fat.
God that sounds so awful!!
It's all from avocados too and the few cooked things I had like rice and a tortilla. I agree with you superfoods, I'm clinging to it because I'm transitioning and it gives me that fullness and heaviness I'm used to. Even though I know it's a bad feeling its semi-comforting!!
I'm gonna pump it up today. I left the avocado at home!
I have
2 bananas
1 apple
1 nectarine
baby carrots
strawberries + blue berries
grapes
until 7 pm.
