  • Every so often we do a Master Cleanse fast, and I certainly feel like that when I’m on that fast. In general, I often feel that the less I’m eating, the less energy my body is expending to digest the food. So as long as my body is getting what it ne…
  • Hey there! Thanks so much for the feedback. I did see your post, and for me, the text you’re talking about did indeed appear in bold. The line breaks didn’t work, though. The type of formatting we use on here, called Textile, doesn’t seem to handle …

  • Well, I’m going to quote from Wikipedia’s Raw Food diet entry: Freezing food is considered acceptable by most raw foodists. Many raw foodists preserve nuts and seeds in the freezer. Then again, it’s Wikipedia, so take it with a grain of salt. Their …

  • Hi, welcome to Gone Raw! I will definitely keep that site in mind, there’s a lot of good stuff on there.

  • Well, I’m 34 now, and I’ve been eating at least a vegetarian diet since I was 18, so people are pretty used to me eating weird stuff. :) But as for going vegan, then raw, that wasn’t that hard because I live with the co-creator of Gone Raw! Plus, I …
  • Here’s one for Apple Cinnamon Granola. There’s also a raw cereal recipe on here that’s pretty close.

  • Hey, that’s pretty cool!

  • Thanks Josee and Meredith. I do have far more herbal teas than green teas, but probably not enough plain old water. With regards to the acidity, I suspect that’s why our nutritionist suggested we avoid San Pelligrino water.

  • Josee, thanks for those great suggestions! I drink a lot of tea, but not nearly as much water as I should. I never knew ginger was good for blood circulation – I should be drinking more of my ginger tea.

  • I couldn’t agree more. Take your time! 75% is awesome.
  • We tried making chips out of sweet potatoes, but it didn’t work so well. Got rather rubbery, they did. I’ve had the jicama fries before, as shannonmarie mentions, and those were quite good, and spicy. I’ll see if I can get the chef to share the reci…
  • Update today: if you’re subscribed to the recipes, as described above, you now get a photo of the recipe, if there is one. Another thing we’re working on is a Gone Raw dashboard widget for Mac users to enjoy, which should be available shortly. Any M…
  • Whoa! Weird. I’m going to have to digest that one. Pun intended.
  • Indeed, very much appreciated. I’ve already written the fix, but I usually wait until after the busy hours to “push” the changes to the Gone Raw site itself. Which, for those interested, is about 3 to 8PM PST…

  • I just added a pickled ginger recipe ... very fast and easy!
  • I think I fall in the middle. I like fruit, and I don’t mind when we make cookies or breakfast bars out of fruits with some nuts. If I crave anything, it’s avocados. I tend to like fruit in the morning, and vegetables by the afternoon. But I’m not 1…

  • Welcome, and thanks for sharing your story. I hope raw foods help you as much as they have helped me. It’s taken a long time, but I’ve finally overcome my fears of cutting out meat, then dairy… and slowly, cooked foods. But I feel better with every …

  • Whatever you do, don’t add milk to your tea! “Adding milk to a cup of tea can destroy its ability to protect against heart disease, according to research.” http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6241139.stm

  • The coffee might make it not so raw, as they’re roasted at fairly high temperatures. I have seen folks grow coffee plants, but those produce “cherries,” the seeds of which are used to make coffee. Probably not the same thing. We have some Cacao Nibs…

  • Hi Toni, welcome to Gone Raw. I’d never heard of Hashimoto’s Disease before… it seems like your experiences, and reasons for going raw, are similar to mine. I wish you the best with raw foods!

  • Aw, thanks. It’s a labor of love!
  • Kandace loves her Kombucha! We’ve found it at Whole Foods, New Seasons, and Wild Oats here in Portland – just look in the refrigerated aisle.
  • I usually feel fine after drinking it… it’s probably the same as with raw concentrated sweeteners – it’s best to avoid ‘em if you can. My nutritionist, also, tells me that it’s something I should avoid as much as possible. Mainly, it’s just how much…
  • Even though it has the egg whites, I picked up a bottle of the Cooper Mountain today. I’ve had it before – and I love it. It’s about $16 a bottle here. They also have “reserve” bottles, each from a specific terroir, but I haven’t tried one yet as th…
