  • Absolutely the food processor. I have a dehydrator, food processor, juicer, high-speed blender, spiralizer, magic bullet, vacuum sealer, and missing the mandolin. The food processor is first, but the high-speed blender is a very close second. Aftera…

  • How well does Irish Moss store? If it doesn’t last too long… then, before I buy a pound of Irish Moss, are there other recipes that use it? I see a recipe for ice cream which I will try… and I will also try it on my creme pie. Chia seeds… I don’t kn…
  • RCBAlive, I like the idea that chia seeds don’t require hot water… and that they don’t have much flavor (I think that’s what you said on another post). The person who told me about cere gel is from Colorado… so maybe it is (currently) only found the…
  • Thank you so much for the reply Lucy! I hope it works just as good as agar. I have to add boiling water to get it to gel up. So, now I’m curious to see how this will work. Thanks so much! I’m still looking to see if anyone has heard of Cere Gel. I’m…
  • Oh yeah, I got that book too. We really enjoy the pad thai recipe. I couldn’t get the crepes recipe to work. And, there are too many mushrooms used in the recipes…. which I don’t really like much.
  • I know you can get raw nut flours. My un-cookbook lists sources (don’t have it with me). But, you can make almond flour buy dehydrating the almond pulp.
  • Let’s see if I can describe it more: Is it a point in your peripheral vision that gets blurry… it almost seems like its moving, but it remains in the same spot… then it grows into a crescent. It is seen in both eyes, but goes away in 20 minutes. And…
  • So, is your blurry vision in one area of your eye? Is it in both eyes? How long does it last? 20 minutes? Just wondering… maybe it is only an “eye headache”.
  • Peanut Butter: Daria, we bought this raw Sunflower butter from Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. (it is not raw-living)... and it’s the closes to peanut butter that I’ve come to. Maybe you can try making it raw & living.
  • Hey, that’s a great idea! I didn’t think to store dehydrated nut butter. Mmmmm… a “roasted” kind of raw nut butter. Thanks chefraw16.
  • 4) You can store prepared raw, living foods (non-dehydrated) for up to 4 days. You can tell by the taste if it’s gone bad. So, I am sure this applies to living nut-butters as well.
  • Were you trying to sprout them? When you finish soaking/germinating nuts/seeds at room temperature, you can do one of 3 things. 1) Store them in water in the refrigerator. Changing water daily or every 2 days max. They keep for several days. 2) Dehy…
  • Thanks for the info! I stopped using grains a while ago… not sure if I want to start again. But, I know I like buckwheat!

  • Oh yeah… I posted about that here: 50% Less Fat Avocado
  • What?! Nuts and fruit cause gas?!! I missed that post! I had no idea… Does this only happen with combining raw nuts and fruits or does it also happen with cooked? Is this the same for seeds and fruit? I need to see a food combinging chart… maybe I s…

  • 1/32 is less than a 1/4 inch. You don’t want them too firm… hehe. Freezing? That’s intersting. Next time I have an avocado I can’t eat in-time, I’ll freeze it for my carob-avocado pudding. Thanks for the tip. I also heard that if the avocado peel ha…

  • They should be firm when you press/squeeze them… “giving” less than 1/4 inch when squeezed. And the little “knobs” or stems should come off easily… of course, if it doesn’t have one… well, good luck.

  • Good point debbietook. Thanks.
  • I’d like to know how long it will keep… otherwise I have to plan in advance and make a one-and-a-half-hour (and sometimes 3 hour) drive to get it. (Plus, I teach raw food classes… so I like to have it on hand for them to try. And, when somebody asks…
  • I haven’t given up on this one… anyone know? The bottle is still in my fridge. And, it’s been 3 weeks now. It still tastes good… I think.
  • Techinically, (as I understand it, so correct me if I’m wrong) raw almonds are not illegal. It’s illegal to ship them unpasteurized but it is not illegal to possess raw, dormant/living almonds. Afterall, it’s not illegal to get raw, dormant/living a…
  • Here are some links: I wrote this on one of the forums (long while ago): According to a grad student working at NIH, some of the enzymes denature when you freeze them. Plus, some vegetables turn a little brown when you freeze them because of some en…

  • Yeah, I think she interned for only 6 months before she opened up her place. Oh wait… I just checked Luna Pastel’s website… and her restaurant is for sale!!! If you click over the text that reads “Want to Own Your Own Live Organic Cafe?” It will rea…
  • A few months ago I ran into a website that does business consultation… specifically for opening up a raw food restaurant. I think she was in the state of New York. If I find the website (I’ll search for it later), I’ll post it here. Also, I’ve been …
  • Anastasia, so you are getting a certificaiton in sports nutrition? How long will your certification take? I hadn’t heard of the Raw Vegan Network. I was looking at Dr. Ann Wigmore Raw Living Foods Lifestyle Home Study Program. (I’m not taking the co…
  • AnastasiaAlson, where are you studying for your certification? And how about your raw food education? Also, your website doesn’t seem to work.
  • Zoe, what about snacking. Do you snack between meals? Does anyone know if snacking between meals contributes to B.O. for the raw fooders out there with B.O.? And for those raw fooders without B.O., do you snack between meals?
  • This is a good topic. A few questions come to mind (I don’t have answers): Can people that don’t sweat have no smell? Is there a relation with food combining and smelling? Are we always detoxing that we will have a smell (even if rare)?
  • So, you mean your poo doesn’t come out smelling like cooked food? About garlic: Renee Underkoffler’s book says that the sprouting part of the garlic is what makes one smell. I haven’t been able to test it though… Interesting topic! I knew I needed m…
  • This is interesting. It would probably take some time before someone notices a change in their eyes. I took a mini intro class to iridology a few years ago, but I don’t remember much about it. I’d be interested to see what others says.
