  • Exercise those endorphins by bouncing, running, lifting small hand held weights, do jumping jacks, etc, and sleep a bit more at night. These are the things that are currently helping me get through being iced-in. All the best, by the way- I don't li…
  • Pumpkin seeds and dried apricots are also good iron sources.
  • I also agree with Raw food for 1 or 2 people, Ani Phyo's book, or maybe Brendan Brazier. Brendan's new book comes out on the 23rd and it's cooked and raw vegan recipes. His foods are all no soy, gluten and all yum!
  • I grew up in Puyallup too. I'm in Portland now.
  • I think I used about 1/4 cup in a close to 16 ounce smoothie. Sorry about the sprouted part and sorry it's hard to digest for you. Since it's not wheat and is gluten free I thought it'd be a safe food. So much to learn!
  • My trainer wants me to get 50% more protein each day! I think I'm getting about 60 or more grams right now. Eek! I'm a healthy weight and I just ran my first marathon and now I'm going for the lean muscle and better form overall. Any thoughts?
  • Depends on what you feel you need and are not getting enough of. There are so many choices out there. From a pill to E3 Live to powders to put in smoothies.

  • I second the water suggestion. That’s what I go for if I feel a bit hungry at night. And not too much because I don’t want to have to get up to pee in the middle of the night!!
  • Elaina Love teaches at Living Light and she’s an angel! That woman delivers!
  • I am a personal trainer (not currently practicing) and an athlete- runner, yoga, lift weights, pilates. I like to use a few different protein powders to make my smoothies more interesting and get more nutrients. These are a few I use off and on: The…
  • Cafe Soulstice in San Mateo and Palo Alto has some great stuff. It’s my favorite! Have fun. Cafe Gratitude is also lovely. This list will help: http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=&rpp=10&fi…
  • I just ran my first marathon last weekend and I used The Thrive Diet book and the Non-Runner’s Marathon Trainer. Brendan Brazier is amazing. Because I followed his advice I felt great before, during and after the race. My recovery has been perfect! …
  • Annabelle- How did you carry the coconut oil with you? Thanks!
  • The Disney run sounds so cool. I’m running my first marathon this Sunday in San Francisco. So I’m planning on filling my Camelback back pack with water and bringing my coconut water (only about 8 ounces) prepackaged. Plus Thrive bars and dates with …

  • My current fav is about half a head of romaine, a ripe pear and water- or coconut water if I have it. Delicious! You can sub any greens to your liking and sometimes I put a cucumber in too.
  • http://www.fatfreevegan.com/ I really like this one for recipes! Good luck to you!
  • Two of my favorites are Cafe Soulstice (locations in San Mateo and Palo Alto and a third coming to SF soon!) and another- Cafe Gratitude, all in Northern California! Yummmmmmmm
  • I was a massage therapist for ten years, I’m a reiki level one, and have been told by a few psychics that healing energy comes through my hands and that is important that I find ways to share and develop this gift. I’m so happy to see this thread st…
  • Stephanie- I’m training for my first marathon in October. Running the SF Nike Women’s Marathon. So, running a lot these days! So who’s coming on Sunday? xo ami
  • Here’s a link to the meetup group: http://rawfood.meetup.com/206/ I’m going to Sunday night’s event to hear Paul Nison speak. Let me know if any of you go! I’m just under 5 feet tall, shoulder length red hair. And, yes I guess I have been to Yummy T…
  • I’m in Portland too. I’ve been to Blossoming Lotus too many times to count and just once to Proper Eats. I like getting a produce box from Organics 2 U and shop at Whole Foods and both co-ops, NE and SE. I’m a member of the raw meetup.com group here…
  • I made them once and didn’t like them. I ended up making a raw chocolate sauce to go on top of them and sprinkled fresh blueberries on top. Overall the texture was much too dense for my taste but I hate wasting so came up with the sauce and berries.…
