  • you know what’s fun? I’m a pastry chef (though it was about 10 years ago since I worked in the field). Now that my twins are starting pre-k in the fall, I’m starting a baking career, again…this time either raw or vegan chocolates. I love starting my…

  • Another great thread on 8/1/1. I’m on day three. Today was a little tough, but just for moments at a time. And, of course, it was for “heavy” foods. So, not being hard on myself, I’d have a bite of a larabar or a small spoonful of almond butter and …
  • Yesterday (Friday) I ate about 10 bananas through the day, an early snack of strawberries, a late snack of carrots then dinner of a huge salad. The salad wasn’t one of my best, but it’ll come back to me. I did have a bite of very dark chocolate befo…
  • Well, I just woke and got the morning started and I am very excited about this change. I do not turn the computer on over Shabbat, but I will be posting quite a bit and checking in so I can share and learn. Between this thread and the other with all…
  • i’m debbie or deb, too. twins are the best. are these their first children? twins are crazy! pure chaos….fun chaos. mine are four and now that they are potty trained and a lot more independent, we have lots of fun (lots of time out’s, too)

  • I have the exact same routine as kayo. And it works really well. The dr. bronners tea tree oil soap followed by coconut oil. Even my four years old twins use the coconut oil after their showers.

  • Thanks. I do see a homeopath, maybe he can guide me. I was hesitant about the MD route because of antibiotics and such treatments. Though I do agree this does seem to be spreading.
  • I started Monday morning. And I actually have a ton of energy! The only questionable part of this is that my teeth feel really sugary. I’ve brushed them many times today. What’s great is that I’m having no blood sugar issues and the energy. Mentally…
  • that’s why I put “challenge” in quotes. :)
  • Now that spring is here, fruit sounds wonderful. I’ll do a “challenge” with someone. Keep me posted.
  • I recall saying I would only eat raw foods and then I really felt guilty when I ate cooked oatmeal. Mentally, I have to tell myself that it’s ok, that’s why I don’t use a title for how I eat. That’s why I like this site. Some days I’m 100%, some day…
  • I’ve chosen not to call myself “vegan” or a “raw food” person. I’m not 100% raw, don’t really plan on it, but I do choose to eat a healthy way which means organic fruits and veggies (and a lot of them). I don’t so many weird looks, then. Though I do…
  • Hi, Zoe. Trust me, the raw diet gives me energy! But sometimes, the little rush from some cacao nibs or powder…or the yerba mate tea is fun and gets me through a few hours of playing with my three year old twins. :)

  • What about Yerba Mate tea? I love it and it gives me soooo much energy without caffeine. It’s really good sweetened with a little agave or raw honey.

  • Hi. I can answer this question pretty easily. 1. I’m not 100% raw. I eat brown rice, some tofu and soy milk (not often), sprouted bread, steamed vegetables and once in a while a vegan cookie. 2. I always have this on my grocery list: Fruits: apples,…
  • I just checked out this site. It is great (and I bookmarked it). Congratulations. Debbie
  • I like Renee Loux. She has two books, Living Cuisine (all raw) and The Balanced Plate (part raw, all whole foods). I read these books all the time and have made many, many of the dishes. I love the desserts (of course!)

  • For my family (hubby and three year old twins) I spend about $150-$175 a week. That included about 2/3 produce and the rest are grains and some proteins (tofu, fish). And about 95% is organic. I’d love to do a bit better, but I’m working on it.
  • I follow the same rule rawmumma! If I can’t eat it, it’s not going on my skin…the same for my twins, too. I just slathered coconut oil on my daughter after her bath tonight. I have to say the dry skin brushing has made a huge difference for my compl…
