GOod morning!
Yesterday was a strange day, my 1st day non-100%raw, cuz it was my B-day and I ate a part of cake and went to eat at the restaurant... so
Bkfast: 3 bananas, 1 zapote, 1 glass of water with apple vinegar, 1 coffee
snack: 8 bananas with cinammon
Lunch: 4 bananas, 1 coffeee (I was over with the coffee yesterday)
PM: I part of lemon pie. Ok seriously this was not raw. I would have wish to have one raw, and it was not as good as i remembered. Note to myself: next bday, do a raw cake.
Lunch: 1 diet pepsi (ok ok), 1 big plate of vapor cooked veggies with chinese sauce (it is the clossest raw and vegan thing I can find in a restaurant, north nicaragua, i SWEAR, if not, it's a salad, and i dont like them)
That's about it.
Yesterday, I made a list of the fruits and veggies I have disponible here. and I know now why it's such a hard time for me to be 100% raw, cuz I have NO DIVERSITY!!!!!!! Man, I can't keep up one mor year only eating bananas, papayas and peanuts... I'm reconsidering to come back 70%raw after my personal 90 days challenge...
Oh! and I'm looking to go to china in december. Anyone ever been there?
Good day to all of you!
Karine xx
Hi sv3!
THank you! :)
The thing is that the only "greens" i can find here is lettuce (romaine and iceberg), parsley, cilantro, mint, spinach and ONCE (in 2 years) i had kale. So that's fine to do smoothies (ex: banana, papaya and spinach) but to eat salads... I pretty have, to put in my salad: tomatoes, onions, cucumber, olives, avocado, carrots, beets... that's what I can have here..
And for my smoothies, I only have: pinapple, papaya, bananas, apples (imported, 1$US each!! too expensive to eat more than one a week!!), zapote, watermelon, and hum that's about it.
So if you take a quick look at it you would be like: yeah man you have a lot to eat!!! But the truth is that NO!! Thinking that I'm eating about 5 times a day, it's almost the same thing since a looonnnngg time (I was vegan before raw, but the diversity isnt that different).
Far from me apricots, apples, dates, figs, plums, grapes, strawberries, germ bread, sprouted grains, honeydew, raspberrys, bluberries, blackberries, cherries, lemons, artichokes, bragg sauce, raw restaurants, raw nuts, etc etc etc.
I was first (when coming raw) eating a LOT of soaked oatmeal, bananas, cacao powder (not sure if raw, but using it to chang from cinammon that im using too much), and papaya. I'm not having a job in central am, I have money but not that much, and kinda paying for hubby too, so I can't have 5 apples a day and 1 papaya and everything i would like because I would be out of money after a week and a half (have money each month). So I'm like: what can I do????? I'm gaining weight right now for eating too much bananas. Not that I'm getting "fat", but my pants are getting tight even if I'm on a raw diet. There's a difference between eating 10 apples and 10 bananas!!!
Anyway, I'm kind of depressed about that, I dont know what I'll do....
I'll try to check that out and find a solution ;)
Bye!!
- pineapple, lime, avocado and spinach smoothie
-cashews and dates
- some baked sweet potato and onions. not raw :(
Oh mannnnnnn I feel growse!
About 4 days ago, I've decided to stop my 90 days challenge and my Raw habbits because I had no options here (nicaragua) to eat what I wanted to eat. I was almost only eating bananas and was about to get crazy eating them.
So I told myself: I'll just be a vegan as I used to, but will include bread and cooked food.
I passed the last 4 days eating bad stuff, I ate cheese, yogurt, a bunch of integral bread and oh my god I FEEL SOOOOOO BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to vomit, I put weight or maybe not weight nut I feel BIG and ugly and oh my, i feel so bad I want to cry :(
Damn it, I'll go back raw vegan. so, I'm back in.
hey looks like a lot of us had a bad cooked food w-e ahahah!
Hello!
TOday so far, wasn't 100%raw cuz I wanted to be done with my integral bread I bought 2 days ago..
SO I had 3 large slices of bread with 3 mashed bananas
2 apples
2 hanfdul of mixed nuts
I'm pretty full. So I might just have a veggie salad for supper I don't know yet. Or maybe a banana-spinach smoothie, but might go on the salad better.
Good day!
Breakfast - fresh pineapple and fresh canteloupe melon
Lunch - celery, apple, grape and walnut salad with almond mayonnaise
Dinner - walnut & mushroom burger with kalamata olive tapenade and kale, avocado and tomato salad.
Bloody lovely!
gemmaray I want what you had!
- lots of water
- a cup of hot lemon water with lavender honey
- a white tea with vanilla
- two apples
- spinach, wakame, sea spaghetti, rosemary, avocado, vine tomatoes, purple sprouting broccoli, hemp seeds, lemon juice, olive oil, himalayan salt
- a small organic banana
- chopped banana, cherimoya and blueberries with chocolate sauce (agave, cacao powder)
- more blueberries and chocolate sauce
why don't I always eat raw?
yesterday:
9 C grapes
2 persimmons
5 bananas
8 medjool dates
11 cups spinach
^ I would like it if doctors still had to do that!
I did quite well today considering the circumstances. My sister and I have been making a hazelnut meringue layer cake for my Mum's birthday so I had to try the components to check that they were okay, I only had the tiniest bits. Then my parents came back from Italy with a box of beautiful chocolates, of which I had two, a pistachio one and a praline.
Other than that I've had:
an apple
a pear
handfuls of blueberries
a slice of melon
a really huge salad with rocket, red chard, lamb's lettuce, radish sprouts, spirulina, cold-pressed sunflower oil, fleur de sel
That doesn't seem like much food but I'm stuffed.
- 2 pieces of nori roll with sundried tomato and almond pate, avocado and carrot that I made yesterday
- carrot, spinach, orange, blackberry and banana smoothie
- a couple of frozen grapes
- lots more nori rolls
- more frozen grapes
do you guys and girls mind one more poster? i'm not really new to raw foodism- i've followed it in the past for over a year with amazing results- it's just my first time attempting it since moving back to the east coast and having to deal with winter again! i've been back at it for a couple days and already it feels right :)
-in the morning- green juice with kale, cucumber, an apple and 2 clementines, plus another apple and 2 clementines eaten whole later on
-lunch was tons of cauliflower and some carrots with non-raw hummus (haha, i am a hummus addict too! i made raw sprouted chickpea hummus but it was terrible so i resorted to my leftover conventional hummus til i can go get zucchinis to make the raw zucchini hummus i like)
-snack was 2 bananas with a little raw cacao powder
-dinner was a large salad with baby greens & romaine, a tomato, half a cucumber, half a red pepper and a tiny bit of cold pressed EVOO and balsamic vinegar, and a Lara Bar for "dessert"
-bedtime snack was an apple
how do you deal with always being cold? i never got used to that aspect of the raw diet even while living in los angeles. i was the girl wearing sweaters in august, lol.
Thanks for the tips on staying warm! It's not even that cold here yet, but I find myself getting pretty scared for winter!
Food-
Late AM- juice of cucumber, kale, apple & clementines
another apple, and 2 bananas with some raw cacao powder
Afternoon- about 1/3 of a huge head of cauliflower and some carrots with the last of my non-raw hummus
PM- 2 clementines
green smoothie w/ a banana, kale, mango & strawberries
cashew cookie Lara Bar
Exercise- just walking my dog today, it was a very low energy day for me and I slept for 10 hours last night- my body really wants rest!
I might have something else later (a salad or maybe cucumbers/tomatoes if anything). I haven't been all that hungry lately though!
Sending a hello from Sweden! Love the Raw food!
:( I want more mulberries.. I used to get them from the Fresh Network but they seem to have been out of stock for a while.
I had a really unhealthy weekend and this is my first day of getting back to normal...
- apple
- satsuma
- avocado
- white tea with vanilla
- small bunch of grapes
- small pot of goats yoghurt
- sharon fruit
- almost a whole bag of cashew nuts (I really don't like cashew nuts, I think they taste gluey and plain, but there wasn't much choice at the time)
- salad: kale, avocado, blackberries, almonds, carrot, red onion, hijiki, lime juice.
- dessert: blackberries, mashed banana, raw honey, cacao powder.
I almost don't want to post this b/c it is really a bad example of what someone trying to succeed on a low fat rv diet should eat... my excuse is that I was helping my little sis get to JFK Airport all day, we got lost and took super long to get there, she missed her flight so I helped her get another flight and get settled, then I had to wait a long time to get a train back to Manhattan. I didn't get back til 8 PM and was about to eat my own arm (hey it's raw right?) but thankfully got some healthy food in me!
-4 clementines & a banana in AM- no time to juice
*60 mins. hot power vinyasa yoga*
-3 bananas from a street fruit vendor
*near death starvation experience*
-tons of baby carrots while making my pets' dinners
-salad w/ mixed baby greens & romaine, carrots, yellow pepper, cucumber, vinegar & 1/2 T EVOO; steamed sweet potato w/ organic ketchup from Trader Joe's
-probably a piece of fruit later since I'll be up late (mango or apple)
Not enough food, and I also failed at life when I stopped to get some fruits/veggies and forgot to buy bananas for green smoothies!!! So I resorted to a sweet potato which I was saving for "Thanksgiving dinner" but it's all good. Better planning tomorrow! I'm proud that I didn't just go buy a bagel as soon as I got off at my subway stop. It was VERY tempting!
lulushka, i apologize if my bad day yesterday made you feel like you eat too much! like i said, it was an anomoly for me and it was NOT fun to be starving half the day! i did eat an apple & a mango later on and also got up at 2 am to eat more apples b/c i was so hungry! i'm also trying to work myself up to eating more since i know even my normal days are a bit light. it's tough b/c i'm never hungry for enough food when eating raw (especially when i'm limiting fat). i used to average 1200 calories a day when i was 100% raw for 10 months...perhaps that's why i didn't have success with it lol.
today i finally had a normal amount of energy and my body was dying for some exercise! yay!
-apple...out of food, eek!
-lara bar + 2 bananas w/ raw cacao powder after getting groceries
-24 oz green smoothie (bananas, kale, mango, strawberries + water)
-3 carrots, yum
-dinner will be soon- huge salad w/ mixed baby greens, romaine, yellow & red peppers, carrots, cucumber & balsamic vinegar. yeah it's not raw, i'm trying to make myself like raw apple cider vinegar but so far i'm not a fan. also having 2 small steamed sweet potatoes! i'm on my own for thanksgiving but that's ok b/c, as a vegan and a half native american, i'm not a huge fan of the holiday anyway lol.
-edited to add: had only one steamed sweet potato, but added 3 bananas w/ raw cacao powder. i think i have to stop buying the cacao though, i'm not feeling so great now!
exercise = 5.6 mile run which felt amazing, i was running at my tempo pace but breathing and feeling like it was an easy pace! also walked 1.5 hours pretty leisurely w/ the pup.
trying to be good about proper food combining, please let me know if i'm messing up somewhere! thanks and happy thanksgiving!
lulushka i'm so glad, i thought i really offended you!
here's my day:
-green smoothie w/ 2 bananas, kale, mango, 2 clementines, water
*60 min. hot power vinyasa yoga, lots of walking*
-2 bananas, half a mango
-lettuce-less salad w/ a cucumber, a tomato and a carrot
-huuuge real salad w/ baby mixed greens, romaine, carrot, half a cucumber, red & yellow peppers, a tomato and about 1/2 T EVOO with a little vinegar; 3 bananas dipped in raw cacao powder
-1 wine glass full of home-made sangria (organic sulfite-free red wine mixed with pieces of mango, clementines & apples!!! I may add stevia or just allow my friends to add it to their glasses if they want it...it's already sweet enough for me)
*probably lots of dancing :-) *
-maybe/probably 2 apples when I get home around 3 AM- girls' night tonight!
I'm trying to stick to 811...wish me luck!
Hey sv3, what are twiglets? They sound too cute to eat, lol.
I've had a good week, all raw except for a sweet potato last Monday or Tuesday, with tons of fruit, and only overt fats yesterday. I was rewarded with a really amazing, fast 8 mile run on Saturday, plus my clothes are looser! I'm going to keep eating like this and see what happens- I want to qualify for the Boston Marathon in the next 1-2 years.
Today:
2 bananas + green smoothie w/ 3 bananas, frozen mango/strawberries, kale
w/o: 5.5 mile run, 30 mins. vinyasa yoga, plus about 1 hour 45 mins. walking w/ dog and for transportation throughout the day
2 bananas (sprinkled cinnamon on one) and an orange
planning on a salad w/ baby greens, red leaf lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, red pepper & a little vinegar before leaving for work around 5 PM
probably another green smoothie, same as above but with 2 bananas after work
Add 2 bananas to my afternoon snack, and I had a baked sweet potato for dinner when I finally got home instead of another smoothie. They are just so warm and good, and I was sooo cold! Not sure if I'll keep including them or not, but it hit the spot tonight. Also just had 2 small apples as a bedtime snack, and might have another banana to bump up the calories.
It was strangely warm here today...got to run in shorts, and didn't have any cooked veggie cravings :-)
-4 bananas
-fruit salad of a mango, an apple & 2 bananas
w/o: 5 mile run
-apple
-huuuge salad w/ romaine, carrots, tomatoes, red pepper, cucumber & a lil vinegar; 2 bananas
w/o: hour of walking to/from work
-apple & 3 bananas
-lettuce-less salad of 4 tomatoes, 3 carrots & 2 celery stalks...hit the spot! Plus 2 bananas.
I'm running out of bananas! My case lasted a week and 2 days, and it was sooo nice not to have to haul bunches of bananas home from the grocery every other day. I will definitely order by the case from now on!
Today was just eh...
B: 5 bananas
S/Light L: 2 apples
L/D: Whole Foods salad bar- salad w/ lots of different greens, cucumber, mushrooms, tomatoes, roasted (with oil) brussels sprouts & butternut squash w/ a little vinegar...then had some plain steamed sweet potatoes and some broccoli/cauliflower/brussels sauteed in olive oil w/ garlic and pepper. It was divine but my stomach didn't handle the oil very well.
S: planning on a green smoothie & perhaps some clementines that my produce suppliers gave to me :-)
Workout was 2 dog walks (50 mins. total) plus 4 hours of walking all over the city doing some Christmas shopping.
So far:
Orange, lime and papaya smoothie.
I had a bad weekend too!
breakfast: green smoothie, banana
snack: sprouted mung crackers, 2 bananas
lunch: kelp noodles over a bed of dandelion with some cashew butter and some soy sauce (trying to use it up before getting nama shoyu....i dont recommend this combination, btw-- the cashew butter w/ soy sauce)
snack: mashed cauliflower, avo cream spread w/ more mung crackers
dinner: kibbeh nayyeh (vegan), over shredded cabbage with a remoulade
dessert: peanut marzipan
So far today (its 10am)
2 clementines
2 bell peppers cut into strips & handful of baby carrots dipped in Ranch dressing
Tazo Tea~lemongrass & spearmint flavor
cereal: buckwheat crispies + banana + goji berries in an almond-hemp raw milk (some pulp included for added nutrition)
raw dark chocolate brownie balls
2 bananas
1/4c homebrew kombucha
1c pure water
I'm hungover today after a bottle of wine with old friends last night so I've been peckish all day... My friends are always astounded by my choices for hangover foods whilst they are munching down bacon sandwiches..

mashed avocado with tomatoes, lemon juice and spices served in lettuce leaves
