  • I get fresh rolled raw oats from goldminenaturalfoods.com. I am not sure about possible contamination, though. Lately I have been subbing buckwheat sprouts for oats and loving it! I also buy my groats from the above website as they are of a higher q…

  • My personal best this week was 1929%. I think the RDA is what is needed to prevent disease but I don’t see how you could go wrong getting it from food. Supplements…I would say you could because you don’t get all of the other nutrients that all seem …

  • Those scales use electrical impedance I think. There are also formulas you can use that require you to take some measurements, plug in the numbers, do the math and voila! a pretty accurate body fat percentage.

  • yes.Muscle weighs twice what the same amount of fat would weigh but the same amount in lbs takes up half the space. This is why I’ll also measure and calculate body fat. It is more accurate.

  • Watch eating a lot of fat with high glycemic carbs. This has been a huge lightbulb moment for me recently as I have cut the fat WAY back in my diet. The fat in the blood impairs insulin activity so it is harder to quickly move glucose into cells. Wi…
  • I just bought my first papaya ever and it barely gives to pressure so I’m thinking it needs to sit on the counter for awhile? I also am trying mangoes again. Wasn’t a big fan the first time around but I think it would be good mixed into smoothies if…

  • Yes, I definitely have been on “The Quest for Optimum Health” LOL for probably 10 years. I am a recovering compulsive and binge eater from way back. I was never what you’d call heavy as I would excessively exercise to counteract the excess. I have f…
  • I am feeling very good so far. I did some emotional eating again last weekend but stayed 811. Just had a lot (WAY too many!) of calories. I ate too many bananas! El-bo, it’s good to see that you embraced your decision to eat the cooked food, enjoy a…
  • Sounds like everyone is doing great on their journey. I whole heartedly agree with el-bo about not beating yourself up about the minutia. This is probably as bad for you as the higher fat! I am doing well and feeling good. I did some emotional eatin…
  • It didn’t print the percents, so that’s 15 percent fat and 7 percent calories from greens
  • Doing great so far. I definitely feel better eating a lot of greens. I had a salad and used a bit of olive oil (95 cal worth) and ended up at 15 fat because of the greens being higher fat. Greens were 7 of my calories. Nutridiry is great and I’ve we…
  • Thanks Robby for all the great info. I will definitely check out the path of health! Moth, I don’t think that statement is truly correct. I do know fasting will change the metabolic rate and make the body store fat more easily, but I think steady fo…
  • Glad To see everyone is doing so well. I’ve been very close to 811 everyday and usually a bit below 10% on the fat. I’m still flabbergasted that there are no cravings. I had another stressful day at work but I am much less worn out both mentally and…
  • So far, so good. I’ve had a couple of heinously stressful days and I haven’t even thought about hitting the junk. I used to sit and nibble through all of my lunch and rack up lots of calories and then have to really restrict pm to a small snack. Thi…
  • Great day 1. I actually ate more calories than I wanted to because I have discovered FROZEN bananas! I really love those! LOL I tend to overeat on the weekends but I actually did way better than usual. I had a BD party with lots of my usual downfall…
  • I have just put the corn in the husk in the dehydrator for a few hours to warm it and it was delicious. You aren’t dehydrating the corn because of the husk. You could probably just leave it in the sun and get the same effect.
  • I got the book Thurs and I don’t think Amazon had it much cheaper. I think it was 28.? I am in the fats section (around 120) and I have found it interesting. I am very willing to give it a try. What I have noticed is that my sugar and junk cravings …
  • I’m in for a try. I did the raw diva detox a couple of weeks ago and felt great. From what I have read about 811, this detox seemed very similar. I have been pretty much sticking with it eating just a little added fat here and there and noticed that…
  • I like to leave it in the husk and put it in the dehydrator for a few hours. It is better than cooked that way. I have read differing opinions on corn. There is a concern with fungal contamination and therefore mycotoxin issues.
  • I use some parsley, ~2.5-3 oz per 2 qts juice. I use spinach, kale, escarole (or endive or dandelion ) romaine and celery. Romaine is actually one of the best lettuces to juice according to Norman Walker. I use 12 oz. per 2 qt of that. I used to eat…
  • Last night I made the basil avo dressing from here as inspiration and used 2 avos, green onion,1 lemon juiced, basil and sea salt. It made an emulsion in the vitamix and was a wonderful, creamy dressing! I also added water to thin and massaged it in…
  • avocado with lemon or lime juice and green onion mixed into the mash with cucumber slices for dipping
  • Wonder how they would explain my 10 to 15 lb weight gain when I went raw! LOL. Of course I overdid the nuts and dried fruit but those cravings are slowly leaving and I am getting to a more normal eating pattern as I approach 6 mo with , uh, a few sl…
  • blindguru.com has one too but I haven’t been to that site in a while and when I was there, same thing… not too much activity
  • I am not a mother, but I can certainly feel the pain and anguish both of you have endured just radiating from your posts and send another round of cyber-hugs! There is an appendix on raising rainbow babies in Dr. Gabriel Cousens’ ” Rainbow Green Liv…

  • El-Bo, Does the book give any sample menus? I have been eating such high fat that it is hard to get a handle on amounts for this diet and though I am a calorie counter/food diary keeper from way back, it would bring it into perspective to read throu…
  • Thanks bitt, I’ll try the lemon, maybe with a wee bit of raw honey for body since I am vegetarian and not vegan. Debbie, These are her 1st and she is hugely excited. She is only 7.5 weeks but hoping for the best! I think her husband is shellshocked …
  • el-bo- Thanks for the input! I don’t usually juice the fruit, just the greens. I sometimes use an apple per qt or so, but that’s it. I used to do a lot of green smoothies but have lost a taste for them recently, I usually eat tons of salad but I am …
  • I have been struggling with horrible cravings as I walk this journey and I have gone through some heavy detox. I decided to try the 7 day Raw Diva detox to see if that helped anything. It uses fruit monomeals and greens with no added fat for the det…
  • Rolled oats are heated to around 250 or 270 to kill critters. I buy some from gold mine natural foods as raw. They are labeled as fresh and not heated and are from canada. I talked to the farm that supplies my local health food store and the person …
