Hello. This is Laura-Jane The Rawtarian. And in this video, I’m just going to take a little bit about a 30 day raw food diet. When I first went raw about 2 years ago, i started by going raw for 30 days, and it was really tough. I was a vegetarian originally but I really did not eat healthfully at all. I did not each vegetables or fruit much at all. So a 30 day raw food diet for me was completely life-changing. It was very difficult especially for the first couple of weeks because I had to completely retrain my taste buds and learn some new skills like how to cook with a blender when you’re not used to using your blender at all. Similarly, how to make amazing, delicious things like brownies or nut pates in a food processor. So when you first go raw for 30 days, it can be really hard. Similarly, you may be experiencing detox which means you’re felling kid of lethargic. You feel as if you’re going to the washroom very frequently. I experienced this throughout the whole 30 day raw vegan experiment that I did and I was going to the washroom all the time. I don’t remember the exact details but let’s say 5 times a day and that would be like going number 2, and I was feeling oh my gosh, what’s happening to me? But that’s totally normal and it’s a detoxification process. I was also losing weight during those 30 days, and my body was basically getting rid of a lot of stuff that had been keeping and holding. So it did make sense that I would be going to the washroom so frequently.

Sorry to talk about going to the washroom but it’s a healthy part of our lives and it’s important to mindful and to talk about what to expect. So when you’re going raw for 30 days, you may expect you’re going to the washroom quite frequently. Again, you’re just feeling like you might get home from work and you’re really tired and maybe you’re really grumpy which happens to me on occasion, and you’re just like I don’t know what to eat. So in that case when you’re first going raw, it can sometimes be really overwhelming because you honestly don’t know what to eat. You open up your fridge and think oh, there’s carrots. I could eat carrots. The whole premise of going raw for 30 days is really it’s hard, and you have to commit to going raw for 30 days.

So just to tell you a little bit more about my story, my plan was only to go raw for 30 days, and i tell you when I was at like day 20, I was like man, this sucks. I can’t wait to have this whole experiment to be over and start eating Doritos and a big bag of pirate cookies because this sucks. Yeah, I’m feeling like I lost some weight and I look better but this sucks. So I was not planning to stay raw for 2 years which is what happened to me. So on day 31 of my raw food experiment, I woke up and I was like yes, I’m going to have a big bowl of cereal with, you know, I don’t really drink dairy but like soymilk and I’m going to have some cookies and have a bunch of tofu because I was really missing those tofu meals. And I thought well, you know, I could have a big bowl of cereal but I kinda like green smoothies and I think for breakfast, I ‘m going to be an amazing person and on day 31, I’m just going to have a green smoothie for breakfast. And why not? And so that’s what happened to me. After my green smoothie, I was really felling energetic and, you know, looking in the mirror and thinking gosh, you know? That 30 day row food thing really did make me lose quite a bit of weight and I look so much better and my breakouts have toned down. So fur lunch, I don’t remember exactly what I had but, again, it was raw food, and I had to have all these dreams of like what I would eat on that day 31 but, honestly, I thought I’m going to have—I don’t remember what I had—but you know a pate and a big salad or something.

And that was 2 years ago, and I’ve been completely raw from the beginning of my 30 day challenge which was hellish because I didn’t know what I was doing and then I just stayed raw and I feel so great. My acne has gotten so much better. Let’s not even talk about that. I’ve lost—I’m not sure. I don’t ever weigh myself but I probably lost 25 pounds and I really lost it quite quickly and then I’m just staying at my natural body weight which I hadn’t seen. I’m 29 and I hadn’t seen the weight I’m at now since I was probably about at least 15 years old or less. So that’s a little bit about the 30 day raw food challenge and what it did for me. I wasn’t part of a program or anything. I was just inspired to do it and I got a raw recipe book and did it on my own. But that’s a little bit about me and I guess I’ll just end it there.
