Recipe Directions

  • 1. Grate carrots by hand (or in your food processor if you have a grating attachment or with a spirooli slicer) and place in bowl.
  • 2. Add sprouts to bowl.
  • 3. Gently chop avocado and place avocado chunks on top of carrots and sprouts.
  • 4. In a separate bowl, add remaining ingredients together and mix vigorously with a spoon. Pour mixture over avocado bowl and mix gently.
  • 5. Eat with a fork!

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

I am famous for my delicious raw sweets, but I thought I'd share a simple lunch meal with you today. I love making my own alfalfa sprouts, and this is a great little meal to enjoy fresh sprouts with. (If you don't have sprouts, you can use finely chopped spinach instead.)

Avocado bowls make a great meal or snack! This recipe does not keep well due to the avocado, so eat up.

If one is worried about store-bought sprouts, one can always sprout one's own alfalfa. Seems like a scarey proposition at first, but really not hard once you start.

Hello, I am new to raw diet. I have started a couple of weeks ago and find this app very helpful. I have a question... Is it safe to eat the sprouts raw? I remember reading before that you should boil them for at least 20 seconds. Thank you.

I added some spinach and jalapeño. Took me at least 15 minutes to make it. I would make it again.

Ohhh...eMmm...Goodness!!! I loved this quick salad. I began eating it with a fork than switched to a spoon so I can take bigger bites...basically, I inhaled this salad, that’s how good it was. Thank you!

Hi Linda, yes, I eat raw sprouts - I do not boil them. I believe the concern is about salmonella poisoning, but it is probably low risk - although there is still somewhat of a risk, I still eat them

Thanks PP! Glad you liked - a do love a good avocado too, But a bad avocado is very bad.

Curious what you mean about the spirooli carrots - like, you don't like or not going to happen cause it's too much work?

:)

Spiroolie on carrots? No so much. lol :) HOWEVER..
I had to subsitute iceberg for sprouts, and just sprinkled on garlic powder and instead of lemon, I used your salad dressing recipe I made a few days back because I needed to USE it.. (went out of town..grrn)

ANYWAY.... Mmmmmmmmmmmm... and all this time I thought I loved the Sizzlin Fajita salad at On The Border because of the fajita meat.. HA.. it was the avacado all the time!! :)

Great recipes on here Laura.. LOVE IT! :)
