Recipe Directions

  • 1. Throw all raw lemonade smoothie ingredients in blender and blend away until smooth!

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

Raw lemonade smoothies are refreshing during the summer. There's something very cooling about that tart, tangy taste.

The color of this raw lemonade smoothie doesn't look very lemony due to the darkness of the dates, but the taste will be lemony-zingy!

I just love lemon-flavoured raw food recipes, like these raw lemon cookies.

Remember that you should always put the softest ingredients, such as bananas, in first. That way they're close to the blender's blade and make it easier to blend.

If you don't have a high-speed blender (such as a VitaMix) I might leave out the celery because celery is kind of stringy if not blended well. Also, if you don't have a high-speed blender make sure your dates are soft. If you have really hard dates, soak them in warmish water for half-an-hour or so.

Tip: If you don't have celery, try adding a handful of fresh parsley instead!

Enjoy!

So my husband and I are on a Mediterranean diet which is naturally a diabetes prevention and anti-inflammatory and all raw diet foods and all paleo diet foods are inside our lifestyle. We do tons of fruits and veggies and nuts, but we also do lean meats, fish, and low fat dairy products. I found your recipe for raw flaxseed crackers and they are in the dehydrator now. I am going to try this lemonade smoothie tomorrow. I was wondering, have you ever tried your hand at fruit leather? If so, what was your favorite flavors? I feel like you would be excellent and developing leathers that have complimentary tastes. I have made strawberry-banana and strawberry-blueberry and they are pretty good.. but I am looking for better ideas. Any suggestions?

Hi Crista, sounds like you and your husband are doing great. Re: fruit leather, those combos sound good to me! Rasberry is good too - kind of gritty, but has a nice bite :)

Thanks for the great apps :-) Is it possible to print or email the shopping lists directly like you can do with the recipes?

Hi Tia, It is not currently possible with the meal plans app. I do have additional PDFs and resources in my members-only community called "The Rawtarian's Kitchen" - info here: www.therawtarian.com/TRK

Do you use the whole lemon seeds and all ( not all of the skin, just some)?
Thinking I'll have to give this a try given all the great reviews :)

Hi Kelly, I use a knife to cut off all of the lemon peel.

This looks so delicious. I have disliked celery since I was a smal child. I like to sneek it in recipes when I CAN'T taste it. Is this one? Otherwise ill stick with the parsley.

Hi Michelle, I would say that you can still taste the celery. So I say forego this recipe and perhaps try another one of my soups instead. Also, you can try adding some celery to my raw lemonade smoothie - you wouldn't be able to taste it in there :)

This is super delicious, thank you. Super refreshing. I scooped out some passion fruit and put some of that on top, the citrus flavour was really enhanced. You have a great website, turned raw just 3 weeks ago and your recipes are awesome!! xx
