Joined December 17, 2016<p>After learning about the healthy food system & food movement in just ONE DAY in fall 2012 by watching the food documentaries King Corn, Food Fight, Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead, and Forks Over Knives while getting my hair done by a friend, I became committed to a goal that I had not realized had gone dormant.</p> <p> </p> <p>Years prior I looked into herbalism & was going to major in it, but wondered, "how would I ever make a career out of that?" I wish I had followed my intuition! I made a personal decision as a teen to eat however I chose, and in doing so gained 50 lbs I have never been able to lose. At most, I lost 20 lbs healthfully through diet and exercise. Now, I'm on a mission to lose the 50 lbs at age 44 in a way that keeps any family history of disease from coming alive in my body. I believe a 51% raw food & cooked plant-based diet (with only 1-2 days a week or 2 times a month of meat, dairy, sugar intake) will be most realistic for me.</p> <p> </p> <p>2017 has begun with a 21 day Ultimate Daniel Fast from 11/28/16 to 12/19/16, making many raw food recipes from the Rawtarian after that fast, a 3 day juice only fast 1/6/17 to 1/9/17. I'm down 7 lbs already and my sleep is improving. I don't know where this journey is going to take me - I am completing a lot but not checking off the checklists for certifications. My goal is overall health and a lifestyle that educates people through how it changes how I look and behave. Happy to join this great community.</p> <p> </p> <p>My favorite Rawtarian recipes so far are: Raw Seaweed Crunchies, Raw Banana Bread, Raw Sun-Dried Tomato Bread, 5-Minute Spaghetti Sauce, and Raw Mock Egg Salad. I'm looking forward to trying all her amazing recipes.</p> <p> </p> <p>I have a 9-tray Excalibur dehydrator (I bought it to make kale chips and haven't yet - Laura-Jane has an amazing kale chip recipe which was the reason I invested in my dehydrator! I still can't wait to make them!), a VitaMix blender, and a basic food processor. I work 50 hours a week plus and this is the best lifestyle I've had - it's so easy and fun. </p>
