1 cup of water
2 medium ripe bananas
1/2 teaspoon raw cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon agave nectar
Directions
1. Blend!
2. Adjust measurements to suit your taste.I like to go easy on the cocoa powder and then add more if necessary.
3. Enjoy this raw chocolate shake recipe!
The Rawtarian's Thoughts
Raw chocolate shake recipes have saved the day once again. Over the past few days I've had some sweet-tooth cravings, I'm not afraid to admit it. In order to quell the sweet tooth, I've been making more desserts than normal.
The following raw chocolate shake recipe is so simple but so divine. Served chilled in a tall cold glass, it's a true treat. I am drinking this shake as I type this!
This recipe is perfect for one person.

Yes, super expensive indeed. I tend to buy specialty stuff like that online, but, I have to say, it's still a pretty penny... Anybody got any good sources for inexpensive (or at least the best price on the market) for raw food ingredients?

omg - this kills an sweet tooth craving!!
I am not sure if you have these where you live, but try to blend it with brazil nut/date milk and a "mamey"...and get rid of the agave nectar.
I have seen other organic cocoa powders at wholefoods that seem pretty good at wholefoods, not expensive. you can also use super seed powder by Garden of Life ...
ok now I want one!!!

I agree about the watery comment. But if you use 1 cup of ice and 1/2 cup of water (or almond milk for a bit more creamyness) the results are much more shake-like. And I like a bit more cocoa powder too. My measurements are estimates as I pretty much just eyeballed it.
Anyway, thanks for the recipe a good starting point for sure.

Thx this is great! I've been researching in hopes of transitioning to a raw vegan. It's important to me that as a raw vegan I would be able to get my chocolate fix/satisfy my sweet tooth. This does the trick!

This was a great shake! Been raw for 14 days now, and counting. So many of your recipes have been winners and aren't as time consuming as other raw chefs. Thank you so much!
Note for shake* I like my shakes a little creamy and cold, like soft serve, so I put my banana in the freezer for an hour and I use some almond milk in place of water. Very yummy!

Hi Lily, Glad you are enjoying my simple, satisfying recipes! I love your idea of popping the banana in the freezer first. I usually keep some peeled bananas in the freezer at all times - but not too many at once cause they tend to get freezer burn after a while :)

As always, another one of your recipes that looks delicious and simple. Unfortunately, I have an allergy to bananas. Do you have any recommendations for substituting bananas in your recipes? And advocados are also out -- trying to work my way around my body's severe reactions to foods that are a staple in the raw food diet.

Hi Amy, in general it is not a good idea to substitute one thing for another in a recipe since it invariably messes things up a bit. I suggest looking for a different recipe that does not contain what you can't eat. :) In general, bananas and avocados tend to be used for creaminess. So if you CAN eat cashews you could look for recipes that contain cashews in them since they are good for creaminess. Hope this helps somewhat!

Hi David, great tip! You can generally substitute water for ice - but you need to add more ice than water since water expands when frozen :)

I've been on a raw diet for 17 days now. I really don't know how I found you but, I'm happy I did. For the last couple of days I've tried a few things ( breakfast bowl , green drink today yummie!!!!!! .
Now, as I type and sip. I made the Raw Chocolate Shake.... OMG... GOOD!!!!
I took the suggestions from the other post and added mine... I'm not a cook by far!!!! Believe me I'm not . The few things that I've learned I went to mixing. Because I like creamy .. I used
1/2 of cashew milk ( your receipt )
1/2 cup of ice ( probably more)
1/4 avocado
Then added the rest of your receipt . I really think I can do Raw because of you.
Thank You ,Thank You....
