I had some shiitake mushrooms left over from mushroom soup earlier this week and thought what the heck I can stuff these with pesto like the button ones right? Well not exactly ;) I had them in the dehydrator all day, oops! The pesto slid off and the shiitakes turned into chips! Well there where only 5 or 6 of them...

Ingredients

1 pint shiitake mushrooms (marinated)
MARINADE
1 clove garlic (minced)
½ cup water
2 tablespoons namu shoya or sea salt to your taste
½ cup apple cider vinigar

Recipe Directions

1. Marinate mushrooms overnight.

2. Put in the dehydrator for 6 or so hours and viola, crisps that remind me of salt and vinegar chips!

Well there where only 5 or 6 of them so I had to hide the evidence of my “failure” right?

Yum yum, going put a whole tray in tomorrow after a trip to the market for more shiitake!!!

Oh yeah, the pesto stuffed mushrooms where divine and somehow disappeared as my hubby was “sampling”!

This sounds great. Did the mushrooms taste like pesto or what happened to the pesto?

pesto melted onto my counter unfortunately(old dehydrator model! for fruit really..)but it did vaguely taste like pesto..hmmm, maybe smear a thin layer prior to dehydrating

cute pup! he/she looks very "squishable"(technique used by massaging dogs with both hands around the ears and jowls making them look all kinds of wrinkled and silly) ;)
