1 ¼ cup cashews

¾ cup water (or a little more)

3 tablespoons lemon juice

1/3 cup apple cider vinegar (OR LESS!!! START WITH HALF THE AMOUNT)

1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil

3 tablespoons agave nectar (or honey) (or maple syrup)

2 cloves garlic

3 teaspoons onion powder

1 teaspoon dill

1 teaspoon sea salt

Directions

What are the directions for making this raw ranch dressing recipe..?

Well, just throw everything in your high-speed blender and blend until smooth! Easy!

Don't believe me that this could taste as good as old-school SAD (standard American diet) ranch? Just try it. I dare ya :)

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

Raw ranch dressing is another one of those things that I cannot believe it's possible to replicate raw. But, hallelujah, it is possible.

There is nothing like a nice fresh carrot dipped in raw ranch dressing, no?

And I have even had the pleasure of dipping my raw vegan pizza in raw ranch dressing. "Cue heavenly harp sound...."

So here's my favourite raw ranch dressing recipe for you... I used it basically like a normal salad dressing or dip. I usually make one batch and serve it as a vegetable dip, salad dressing and maybe even on a few more exciting things, like in a raw vegan BLT sandwich or dip raw pizza in it if I am feeling particularly daring.

Of course, you also know that the best vegetables to dip in raw ranch dressing are carrots and broccolli, right?

Hi Jennifer, so glad you are enjoying it :) Happy apping!

Just made this dressing to go on my salad. YUMMY!! How long will this keep in the fridge? Thanks for the awesome recipe!

Hi Emily, this recipe keeps for about 3 days in fridge

Oh my goodness, delicious. I don't usually have dressings as they are full of preservatives and other yucky things! The test was husband and kids......PASSED! Would love to know how long it lasts as the recipe makes a large amount. :)

hi Tracy, if the kids and DH like it's a keeper! This does stay well in the fridge for about 3 days

WOW! This was my first raw condiment recipe and I was pretty skeptical...I love ranch...it's my weakness. First batch...amazing! My husband loved it too! I like A LOT of flavor so I tweaked the recipe a little. More garlic, more herbs, tons of fresh cracked black pepper, waaaay less honey and 1/2 the ACV. I've already told my friends about the site. YOU ROCK!! Thanks for sharing!

The Rawtarian's picture

Glad to have you here Neisha :) And thanks for sharing your tweaks!  I too am a flavor junkie :)

I just made this in prep for tomorrow and it's yummy just the way it is!

Hi PP! So glad you like this ranch dressing. I do too :)

Could you use coconut vinegar instead of acv??

The Rawtarian's picture

Hi Rach, sorry but I am not familiar with coconut vinegar! So am not sure

This is a fabulous recipe. My Kids usually run when I mention RAW but they tried it and couldn't believe how good it was. We dipped fresh broccoli spears, celery, purple carrots and spring onions (lightly covered in celtic sea salt) into it and it was sensational.

I skipped on the dill and the sweetener and used slightly less water, 5 tablespoons of lemon, 3 large cloves garlic and half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper.

Thank you Rawtarian :)

Hi Blackie, you paired it with the perfect veggies too! I usually am not a huge broc fan but this recipe just goes really well with broc for some reason.

If your little ones tend to run for the hills maybe you need to reverse-psychology them - "nope, nope, this recipe isn't raw. no sirree bob!"

:)

What kind brand for cashews? Just normal from bag?

The Rawtarian's picture

Hi Kjhottle, yes, just normal raw, untoasted unsalted cashews from the bag :)

I love this recipe too!! I've made it about 5 times now! My husband and I grew up on ranch dressing. We smeared it on everything! Now that we are dairy and gluten free we were missing it and didn't even know it. Tonight I made it to put on kale that I'll be dehydrating. I'm curious to see how it turns out. Thanks so much!

The Rawtarian's picture

Hi Alli, I too was a Ranch nut. Your ranch kale chips are going to be TASTY!

Are you suppose to soak the cashews, or just throw in dry?

The Rawtarian's picture

Dry, Ashley :)

Bravo on this recipe. So amazing to be able to have ranch again! This is my first raw dressing. Thank you for giving me the inspiration to try more!

The Rawtarian's picture

My pleasure, Matthew!

Just made first batch. So yummy! So much flavor and just like ranch dressing but better!

Love it Amber!

I just made this and it is amazing!! I don't care for ACV, but know it is important for it to taste correct so I cut it to 1 TBS and added 1tsp of pepper. Wonderful!!!!! Just what I have been looking for. My husband and I went fully raw 2 months ago and our youngest daughter (9) is 90% raw, but my other daughter (18) wont eat anything in the fruit, veggie, nut and seed category, she is such a rebel lol. I am happy to report she told me she will be having a big salad with us for dinner if I use this dressing on it! Thank you so very much! I have been using many of your wonderful recipes and it has made it easy for us to get our life back!!! PS along with a LONG list of other disease and ailments we are both no longer considered diabetic!!!! Hugs!

The Rawtarian's picture

Awesome Rebecca. What an inspirational story!  Hugs right back to you - and to your rebellious 18 year old too :)

I put a green onion(scallion) in it as I don't have onion powder. I used a little less water because I like it thick. I used all the vinegar. DH and I love it.

Yum Lori!

PS: I'm glad you're on my side about the vinegar lol

Fresh or dried dill?

The Rawtarian's picture

Fresh is ideal, but in this recipe I simply use dried.

(If using fresh, double the amount called for since fresh takes more volume than dried due to the moisture having been removed)

I tried this recipe and it is delicious! My kids love it and I brought some to work for everyone to try. They all loved it! Great recipe! :D

The Rawtarian's picture

So glad it was a success Michelle! Good teamwork between you and I - a good base recipe and you must have exectuted it beautifully :)

I dont know how much vinegar I used I started with half and added more to taste and used the dry dill. It was amazing. Love it and so do the guys at work.
I had it with a mix of raw veg and apple. I used carrot capsicum celery kale brussel sprouts radicchio beans snow peas sugar snap peas cucumber cherry tomatoes coliflower broccoli.
What else can I eat raw in veg?

The Rawtarian's picture

Emily, when the guys at work love it then you have definitely done something righ!!!!!!!      And your veggie selection pretty much covers all the good bases!

I LOVE this recipe, it's one of the staples in my diet! Today I had some avacado that were not going to last another day, so I subbed one for the cashews, halved the rest of the ingredients and used water to my liking, and it was great!!!! A great idea for those who can't use nuts :-)
Keep up the great work,
Stephanie
Ps, it was a light green color though, but that doesn't bother me!

I think I finally did it right. I needed fresh dill. The other times I made it it tasted like a garlic dressing, not that I didn't like it, but it wasn't ranch dressing. I added a tad more dill and only one garlic clove I also used half the amount of apple cider vinegar like you suggested. I think I may be back into salads on a more regular basis again. Thank you so much.
