Recipe Directions

Collect seawater from a reliable non-polluted source. If you have access to a boat, so much the better. If you don’t live anywhere near the ocean you can order some online.

Dilute the seawater 1/30.

Soak the wheatberries overnight in the seawater solution (from 12-18h).

Drain wheatberries for another 12-15h.

Soak again in the seawater solution for 30mins. This will kill any mould.

Drain wheatberries and spread them out evenly on a tray.

Keep them in the dark for the next two days. If you’re growing multiple trays you can stack them on top of each other. The wheatberries like the pressure because that way they know which direction to grow. It’s best to lighten the pressure the second day. For instance, if you’re growing 10 trays, stack them all the first day, then 5 the second day. Be sure to keep them moist morning and evening by misting them.

Now Open your wheatgrass up to the light. It is not necessary to always water with the seawater solution. If you have no dirt and very good drainage then you can use seawater every time you water. If you have sandy dirt you can water with the seawater solution more often than if you are using a clay based dirt.

When they’re tall enough to harvest simply cut and juice. If you don’t own a juicer you can cut half the grass and blend with some water in your blender, then strain it into a bowl.

I haven’t grown wheatgrass any other way, so I can’t compare the taste, but mine does have a very sweet taste to it. Good luck!
