Joined September 2, 2008
My name is Tiffani. I am fast-approaching 26 years old and I am about 75 pounds overweight. I’ve recently been introduced to the idea of “going raw” as a solution to my serious weight problem. First, my doctor told me to stop eating after 2pm daily to lose weight. Obviously, that didn’t work. Your body needs nutrition in the evening hours. Starving yourself for 16 hours is NOT healthy. I went to weight watchers—I did great, but I stopped losing when two months into the program they changed it altogether. Why? Because people were losing their weight too fast, and that meant less money for WW. So they upped the point values. (Seriously) So I felt like going through a weight-loss program did nothing for me, and put money into the pockets of these companies. Then I decided to join the local gym. The first day I was there, the personal trainer told me to eat 1500 calories/day, at 60% Carbs, 25% Protein, and 15% Fat. TOO MUCH WORK. He also told me that I will never weigh less than 175lbs. and that at 5’6”, and 175 lbs, I would be lean and toned. WHAT? Did they use the metric system where you went to school? Grrr. I had all but lost hope. Deciding to just try to make better choices and get more exercise, I actually gained 13 more pounds in 2 weeks! I’m not looking for a miracle. I’m looking for something that is a lifestyle change, is easy to do, and is going to leave my body in a healthier state in the end. I also suffer from depression-Most of my problems stemming from the fact that I am just not happy with myself. I want to be happier and healthier for me and for my family. I don’t want my five-year-old to look back at her childhood and remember me like this. I have decided to go raw. I’m hoping to be there by October 1st, 2008.
