In this episode I explain the order in which I purchased my raw food kitchen appliances, including cheap blender, food processor, high-speed blender and dehydrator. I also briefly touch on secondary appliances like spiralizers and juicers.

Too funny. I used a crappy blender at first, too. In fact, I burned the motor out of one and had to buy another. Then, I bought the Vitamix and have never regretted it. A wonderful investment. Next purchase will be a dehydrator. :)

BTW, Your recipes are absolutely fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing.

Thanks for being here, Jill.

Glad you are enjoying your VM. They are awesome!

Hey,

I used the Vitamix but due a celing collpasing it failed! (No fault of the blender!) I have replaced it with a BioChef Blender and it works just as well :-) Maybe you should try it?

Keep the recipes coming - the family love them :-D

OMG ceiling collapse? Yikes! Poor you. And poor Vitamix! Lol

I will have to check out the BioChef Blender. Thanks for the recommendation, never heard of that one

Really helpful podcast for newbies! I have been doing a lot of research on what appliances to get in my quest to be raw, and what you said just reconfirmed everything I have thought already, so it's nice to hear that I'm headed in the right direction. One thing I find with trying to get a Vitamix and 9 tray Excalibur at a good price is that they are SO difficult to find used for sale (ie. on Craiglist). No one wants to get rid of them. But if you can find one that, that's a good way to go to get those appliances at affordable prices.

Hi Alison, thanks so much for your note. I am glad you found it useful. It makes me happy to know that you're finding it relevant to your decision making process. Good luck scouting the used market!

Hi.

Stumbled upon this and listened quickly to the audio. An interesting chat. I personally try and minimize all my kitchen appliances because I simply believe in doing most of the cooking by hand. But there are a few that I definitely can't live without.

The tips you shared in the audio was nontheless quite useful and some that I'll even use myself!

Regards,
Tony

I'm so happy I found your site!! So much good information and great recipes!!

Do you have the dry container attachment for your vitamix? I was thinking about getting it when I buy the vitamix instead of buying a separate food processor. I'm currently using a crappy blender and small food processor but making it work!! Thanks for all your great insight!!

Hi,
Have you tried the BioChef Blender? I'm torn between that and the Vitamix and would love your input!
Thanks :)

Hi Joy, I've never heard of the BioChef. I recommend the Vitamix, it's awesome, although pricey. Here's the one I recommend: http://tinyurl.com/b8a967w
