In this episode The Rawtarian explains the order in which she purchased her raw food kitchen appliances, including cheap blender, food processor, high-speed blender and dehydrator. She also briefly touches on secondary appliances like spiralizers and juicers.

Hi Alison, thanks so much for your note. I am glad you found it useful. It makes me happy to know that you're finding it relevant to your decision making process. Good luck scouting the used market!
Hi Joy, I've never heard of the BioChef. I recommend the Vitamix, it's awesome, although pricey. Here's the one I recommend: http://tinyurl.com/b8a967w
Thanks, Laura! ;-) I'm really glad the S30 is enough. I was about to get the PRO 750 but I'll save a lot of money if I get the S30, and I can invest that money on other kitchen appliances I also want to get eventually - dehydrator, spiralazer, food processor, maybe a juicer, etc.
And I'm really happy because the S30 is about to be on sale in Spain =D I live in Madrid and there's only one dealer here. Plus I have to get it online. There's no physical store where I can get it.
I have a Vitamix and I got it on QVC with easy payment options. Takes the bite out of the expense. It is by far one of the best machine I have ever owned..
Hi,
I bought a reconditioned vitamix directly from the vitamix web site. There are great deals to be had there. The only difference it comes in a plain box and has 5 year warranty and not the 7 year warranty option.
Nice! 5 years is still a good warrantee length. Also, VM generally gives really good customer service. I bought a USED vitamix randomly off of Kijiji and it was ANCIENT, and they still replaced a part for me even though the thing was at least 14 yrs old. I love a good deal :)
Thank you for the great advice. Just a note though, I have an Ezidri Ultra dehydrator that is round and it works brilliantly :) And I can have up to 25 trays!! So there are really great "round" dehydrators out there too and it wasn't cheap!
My boyfriend bought me a Vitamix. I can't believe how awesome and versatile the blender is. I use it every day and I am just starting to get in to eating raw.

I'm so happy I found your site!! So much good information and great recipes!!
Do you have the dry container attachment for your vitamix? I was thinking about getting it when I buy the vitamix instead of buying a separate food processor. I'm currently using a crappy blender and small food processor but making it work!! Thanks for all your great insight!!
Stumbled upon this and listened quickly to the audio. An interesting chat. I personally try and minimize all my kitchen appliances because I simply believe in doing most of the cooking by hand. But there are a few that I definitely can't live without.
The tips you shared in the audio was nontheless quite useful and some that I'll even use myself!
Really helpful podcast for newbies! I have been doing a lot of research on what appliances to get in my quest to be raw, and what you said just reconfirmed everything I have thought already, so it's nice to hear that I'm headed in the right direction. One thing I find with trying to get a Vitamix and 9 tray Excalibur at a good price is that they are SO difficult to find used for sale (ie. on Craiglist). No one wants to get rid of them. But if you can find one that, that's a good way to go to get those appliances at affordable prices.

I used the Vitamix but due a celing collpasing it failed! (No fault of the blender!) I have replaced it with a BioChef Blender and it works just as well :-) Maybe you should try it?
Keep the recipes coming - the family love them :-D
Too funny. I used a crappy blender at first, too. In fact, I burned the motor out of one and had to buy another. Then, I bought the Vitamix and have never regretted it. A wonderful investment. Next purchase will be a dehydrator. :)
BTW, Your recipes are absolutely fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing.

I'm about to get the Vitamix S30, but I'm worried it'll be too small. Can I make your recipes with the S30?

Hi MistyCeleste! Go for the S30! Most of my recipes are pretty smallish, other than smoothies, so I think you'll be okay with the S30.

It will be with you for life :) Their warrantees are really good too. My Vitamix is actually very old (over a decade!) and still going strong.
