Recipe Directions

  • 1. Shred your apple using a hand shredder. (If making only one or two bowls, I use a mandoline slicer with the shredder attachment. If making this for many people, probably easiest to shred in a food processor.)
  • 2. Place shredded apple in bowl, and top with remaining ingredients.
  • 3. Top with the cashew milk (best) or alternatively use water.
  • 4. Stir vigourously. Within a couple of minutes the chia seeds and shredded coconut will absorb the liquid and you will have a delicious, ready to eat raw breakfast cereal.

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

This recipe is very similar to my raw breakfast cereal recipe; however, there are a couple of key differences - especially the addition of the coconut and the shredding of the apple.

In fact, it is the shredded apple that makes up the recipe - and gives it a stellar texture!

This recipe is for one person.

This is my absolute favourite breakfast. Having been in Bali for the last 3 months eating a raw diet and coming back to London I have been longing for something healthy but comforting for breakfast. I have eaten this everyday for breakfast for the last two days. It has helped me so much with my digestion which has always been a real challenge for me. Thank you Laura, I am now so excited to eat breakfast each morning! X

Not just for Breakfast. I recently completed the 7 (?) Day Smoothie Challenge ... and for the most part wanted to continue on with the fruit. I absolutely love the coconut mylk recipe which is perfect with this. The chia and the added nuts along with the coconut mylk fill me up. I eat several times a day. I really like the apple shredded as they are not my favorite... but the shredding makes it really filling palatable. I add whatever toppings I have available.... I think one of my most favorite and useful... Thank you Laura Jane xoxo Antonia Blue Star Energy Healer ... xoxo

Once again, I always come back to this breakfast bowl.
I make up a batch with extra cinnamon and keep in the fridge. I am feeling the need for a detox and will probably eat this for several days. This will be the colon blow I am looking for ;)

My tweeks ... I keep a bag of raw trail mix on hand and top off with trail mix, fruit and
cashew milk.
Cinnamon 1 tablespoon
1 tsp of melted coconut oil added to the apple mix.(to keep me full)

Seems like this might be good for a retreat, groups or a class on raw ... Thank you!!

Just had this again and added half a fresh mango to each serve and a few goji berries on the top. The buckwheat groats gave it added crunch with the red apple mix. It is so delicious that I am officially hooked to this recipe. LOL!

Have just made this delicious recipe again and this time I added half a fresh mango into the mix and a few goji berries to decorate. It needed a bit more milk but it was yummy. Needed the buckwheat groats for the added crunch and I uses red apples
I am addicted to this breakfast now! LOL!

Hi Ruby,

Thanks for letting me know! We just recently did some upgrades to the PDF creation, and I believe we have introduced an error as a result. Hang tight, we are investigating.

Again, thanks for letting me know, as I didn't realize that there was a problem.

More on this in a bit!

I made this this morning for my husband and I and it was so delicious. Fresh, raw and very moreish!
I made it with red apples and the recipe as it is. Can’t wait to try again. May try with some mango next time instead of sultanas to see how it tastes and looks.

Thank you so much for this recipe. Quick, delicious and easy to prepare. I think it would be easy to make whilst travelling too as we take a mini grater when we travel to vary our food and make us feel at home! Most ingredients would probably be easy to buy overseas.

First time making this and very pleased with the results. It is refreshing, and has the crunch my teeth and soul crave. I used a red apple and included the buckwheat groats. Delicious.

This is incredible. Some things not mentioned in recipe that I did and loved - soaked chia seeds in 4x water for 20 min separately. Cashew milk turned out to be cream - soaked cashews for a bit then equal parts cashew and water (2/3 C) and a date, vanilla, and salt. Amazing bowl. Wish I made 3 and could eat them all now.
