Recipe Directions

1. Soak edamame beans and seaweed until seaweed is soft, but not mushy. Drain well.

2. Add sliced scallions, chopped portobello, ground sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, dash of sea salt, pinch of red pepper flakes, and a dash of garlic powder.

3. Then add nama shoyu, Braggs, and a splash of the rice wine vinegar (not a raw product). Blend well and serve.

Myrawlife's Thoughts

By myrawlife

I was craving edamame beans and seaweed, so I threw this stuff together at the last minute.

I didn’t really pay too much attention to the amounts of each ingredient used, so you may want to adjust here and there.

The grounded sunflower seeds was actually an accident. I thought I used the sesame seeds, and realized I didn’t. So I added the sesame seeds to it as well.

The combo is not too shabby. Hope you all enjoy it.

Why is edamame beans considered bad? That's a first. Is it because it's a soy based food? If so, I recommend moderation, but they are still full of good things...If you don't want the beans, you could substitute it for something else.

The recipe looks and sounds good. I think that I'll try it with chopped zucchini or bok choy instead of edamame. Thanks for posting it.

Wow! I didn't realize all that. Thank you for sharing the article. It's definately something to consider the next time I think about edamame beans. Extreme moderation would be the key here...Thank you again.

Just to clarify, the frozen edamame are blanched, cooked. You can buy them both raw or blanched.

Both, but neither is a healthy food.

i have a question about the edamame. I was never quite sure if they were raw or not. I occassionally find them in the produce section and of course, frozen. Does anyone know if either or both are raw?

I really like this idea. Been looking for some more seaweed recipes. I don't have rice wine vinegar, so could I use ACV instead?
