Joined March 20, 2007<p>I’ve been a vegetarian since I was a teenager, and I started transitioning to a primarily raw diet just under two months ago – just before my 34th birthday. When I became a vegetarian, I didn’t know any others and my family thought I was nuts. It just seemed right for me from the start. Now I’m experiencing that same kind of intuitive attraction to a lifestyle. I don’t know any other raw eaters – so I don’t really have a support group. I do plan to attend a raw potluck in San Francisco on the first Sunday of next month. I’m an attorney and I often am faced with client lunches and dinners, but so far I have been able to opt for fresh salads without having to make my diet the center of conversation. I am very excited about the changes happening in my body, and I’ve probably gone overboard in my commitment to building a raw kitchen. Crammed into my San Francisco studio apartment kichen there now is: Two juicers (Breville centrifugal and Green Star twin gear), Excalibur 2900 dehydrator, Easy Green Sprouter (I work too much to use jars…trust me), Kitchen Tech high-power blender, and a bamboo block and cleaver for my young coconuts! I have also hunted through Chinatown for fresh durian (found it and love it!!) and ordered tons of seeds, nuts, E3Live, and other goodies online from such places as One Lucky Duck, Raw Food Guru, 2-Life Health, and others. I even read through 6 years of Shazzie’s Blog. This level of obsession is not totally common for me – and the money I’ve spent is a bit shocking – but it all feels so good. I am addicted to the feeling that I am treating my body like something sacred and just pouring life into it. Long live raw!</p>
