Joined August 15, 2007<p>I am an Ironman Triathlete racing my third Ironman Canada on August 26th, 2007. I have finished two Ironman Canada races (2005 and 2006) and decided that I wanted to be as lean as possible in 2007 as the course is extremely hilly, and I was looking for a competitive edge. I have dropped 26 lbs between January and August and have done a LOT of research regarding nutrition and sports nutrition during those months. My issue comes POST race. As the body recovers, I spend less time on long distances and have tended to put on weight in the past, only to have to work on dropping again later in the season. I have decided to return to Vegan (I have been Ovo Lacto Veg in the past and returned to eating meat when I started racing endurance sports as my vegetarian ways were not up to par and I often wonder if I was bringing in ANY protein at all!). Going to be a lot of work, and I do worry about the amounts of fats due to nuts/seeds on the raw foods diet. This is one thing that I’ve really had to keep my eye on this year – I cannot maintain a lower BMI on anything above 2000 calories a day. We’ll see if this changes that…</p>
