Ingredients
- 1 medium avocado (ripe and at peak of perfection please!)
- 1/2 cup dates
- 2 1/2 tablespoons raw cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup water + 1/8 cup water
- 1 1/2 tablespoons honey
- 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
Recipe Directions
- 1. Throw these raw chocolate avocado pudding ingredients into a high-speed blender. Start blending on slow and then crank up the blending speed to high.
- 2. Blend this sucker until puddingy and gooooood! You might need to start and stop this a few times to get it to blend properly because the dates will require more blending than pudding recipes that don't contain dates. If you have a good blender (AKA Vitamix or Blendtec) then you should be able to get this super smooth.
- 3. You may need to add a tiny bit of extra water to facilitate blending. But if doing so only add TINY bits at a time! Try not to add extra water or it'll end up watering it down and changing the consistency.
The Rawtarian's Thoughts
By The Rawtarian Most raw chocolate avocado puddings do not contain dates. Rather, instead they include a lot more agave nectar or raw honey to get the pudding to sweeten up. However, I don't like to use too much honey in this one, so instead in this raw chocolate avocado pudding recipe I call for dates and just a bit of honey.
I recommend soaking your dates first in a warm water for an hour or so so that they are soft and easier to blend, especially If you do not have a high-speed blender.
Although you can eat this chocolate pudding right away, I find that this raw pudding tastes best when chilled in the fridge for at least a few hours.
This is a small recipe that makes four small servings. Feel free to double if you'd like more. And more choco puddding is always a good thing!

Raw chocolate avocado pudding recipe
I very rarely make recipes I see online (unless I've looked for them). I saw this recipe shared on a page I follow today, and I went and made it today. It was absolutely incredible. I basically need a Vitamix, as my blender wasn't quite powerful enough to get it 100% smooth. But wow - it gave me that chocolate kick that I needed, with the rich creaminess from the fatty avocado. Wonderful. Totally genius. Thanks you for creating and sharing! X

sounds yummy! But how big are the servings, 'small' isn't very informative?

Hi Corinne. Each serving is approx. 1/3 cup (or 3 ounces). Hope that helps!

Raw chocolate avocado pudding recipe
Brand new raw eaters here :) Trying to get my husbands blood sugars regulated so he doesn't have to go on medication. I am STOKED to find this , because while I'm doing the raw diet along with him to be supportive, I NEED some chocolate :) I just finished making this and it is so very good!!! I can totally see where a Vitamix would come in very handy, but even without .. oh my .. delicious. Thanks so much!

Would a good processor be a good alternative to a blender?

Christine,
Nice idea with the raspberries!
I hope you refused to give seconds and kept the leftovers for yourself ;)

This recipe is amazing, but to get more protein instead of hazelnuts or any kind of nuts I use hemp protein powder which give you nut taste as well and its delicious as well !

I want to make this and freeze it for a frozen custard/ice cream! Do you think it will turn out? I also want to add in full fat raw milk for added creaminess and to avoid ice crystals when frozen, how do you think it will turn out?
The Rawtarian
Aug 25, 2014
Hi Kailie! I don't do raw milk myself, but as long as you are adding some additional fats (like cashews or what you suggested) it'll be fine. BUT you do need to add something, as written it won't freeze well.

Thank You!
This is rapidly becoming my staple sweet chocolate fix! Totally loving it!
Although I do admit to adding Stevia as an alternative to the honey ( just keep the cals and sugar levels lower)
Still tastes totally yummy and is so quick n easy to make
Thank you again

@Marie Claire, how much Stevia did you use as an alternative sweetener for the pudding? I just started using stevia due to being diabetic.

This looks delish but I don't think the nutritional analysis is correct. A medium avocado has over 200 calls and dates are between 65-80 cals a piece. What am I missing? Believe me, I hope your analysis is right because I sure would love some!!

This is per serving size - and there are four servings in this recipe... (number of servings listed in red area on right), make more sense?

Hi - I'm confused now too. You write that "This raw chocolate avocado pudding recipe makes enough for one person. Feel free to double if you'd like more." But it's actually four servings? Which is it?
Thank you.
