Recipe Directions

Note: All ingredient amounts are approximate. Change it up to suit your fancy!

Step 1: Slice half of the tomatillos into quarters. Slice green onions (they don’t need to be too thin- they will be going into the processor soon) Step 2: Process quartered tomatillos, green onions, lime juice, cilantro, and green tabasco or jalapenos (optional) Step 3: Cut the rest of the tomatillos and the mangoes into small bite-sized pieces. Step 4: Mix cut tomatillos, mangoes, and mixture from food processor. Enjoy!

Tomatillos are also called husk tomatoes. They're used in hispanic sauces much like we might use tomatoes. The latino produce department at one of the area groceries has them. They almost look like green tomatoes. I haven't bought any, because I didn't have a recipe. Now I do. At potlucks someone always brings salsa. I'll bring this next time and surprise them with some variety. Thanks mrsluukkonen. I'll let you know how it goes.

Looks yummy and I love salsa. Are Tomatillos a type of tomato or is it something different all together?

This would be great for my late night snack attack. (Sorry...it's true). Thanks! I have all these ingredients. Saw tomatillos everytime I went to the store and didn't know what they were so I bought only 3 of them as long as a durian and dragon fruit. Can't wait to try it!
