This taste so much like the Tootsie Rolls of my youth. Good stuff when you’re craving something chewy, chocolatey, and sweet.

I know some of the ingredients are weird.

The fo-ti I found in capsule form at Whole Foods. I had to open each one, which was a pain in the a@@, but worth it. The mesquite I found in Whole Foods.

Yeah, it was somewhere but it was so long ago and I jotted it down and it sat for months. When I finally got all the stuff to make it, it was amazing. Also, on a funny note, if you roll this into "logs" you should cut it to size or else it resembles something my cat leaves in his litter box...lol

Anyone know what happens if you make this without the fo-ti?

Fo-ti is a Chinese herb. I only found in in capsule form at Whole Food and had to open up many capsules to get the 2 tablespoons of powder out. I'm sure it is available in powder form but I haven't seen it yet. That's why it took so long for me to make the recipe, but it was worth it.

lol Sue...They showed a picture of them on We Like It Raw, if you want to see the picture, go to welikeitraw.com and under raw food recipes scroll down to Halloween, and it's down there somewhere.

Awesome recipe!! But what is fo-ti?
