Yield
8 brownies
Ingredients
BROWNIE
1½ cups macadamia nuts (soaked for 4 hours)
1 cup soft dates (soaked for 4 hours)
¼ cup water (saved from the soaked nuts)
¾ cup chocolate powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup agave
CHOCOLATE TOPPING
Raw chocolate
Bowl of hot water
Recipe Directions
1. Process macadamia nuts in the food processor until they are a slightly bitty paste. They will work smoother when you add in the other ingredients.
2. Mix in all the other ingredients and process till they are well mixed into a smooth paste.
3. Add the chocolate powder and blend till the mix is nice and chocolaty.
4. Using an ice-cream scoop, portion out the mix onto a non-stick dehydrator sheet.
5. Then wetting your hands so they are damp, push down on the brownies till desired size and shape.
6. Dehydrate for about 12 hours, turning them when the top forms a crust.
7. Let them cool down before topping with chocolate.
8. Melt some raw chocolate over a bowl of hot water. Spoon the chocolate over the brownie and let it run a little down the sides.
9. Chill for about half an hour. Serve.
Veganbear's Thoughts
By veganbearI wanted to make a raw brownie for some time now.
The other day, when sitting on the bus on the way to work, I came up with this recipe and thought I’d give it a go.
They are great!

Your blog says you make the raw chocolate yourself. How? Is it really difficult?

We love brownies. These are the BEST!!!
To make them a bit cheaper we use some walnuts in place of some of the macadamia nuts.
We have made this several times and end up eating most of them through the stages of dehydration!

Just so we are clear...
DO NOT substitute some of the dates with raisins - the raisins leave a bitter taste.
I did sub some of the cocao with carob and the cocao/carob flavor was good.

Mmmm! These were delicious! I can't wait to make them again... I doubled the recipe, and had enough "brownies" to last for a month! Wonderful recipe, super simple, and tasty! Thanks! :)

I'm new to dehydrating. What temperature should I put the dehydrator on for these brownies? Thanks!

Post-dehydrating.... these brownies are still fantastic and really taste like (and better) than the real thing... however, I think they're too rich for me now. But, whenever I get around to having a raw party for a bunch of non-raw friends, these will definitely be on the menu.

WHOA!!!!!! This is by far the chocolatiest, richest, most divine, most chocoholicly satisfying and intoxicating raw sweet (and possibly ANY sweet) that I have had.... and that's just after tasting the batter! This is fantastic! It's definitely rich, and the macademia nuts make it so creamy and also a bit expensive, so it's for sure a special occasion dessert.... like maybe an occasion where I make them and eat them all myself! :) I'll let you know how they turn out when they're fully dehydrated....

When you say raw chocolate powder, do you mean cacao powder or is that something different? And where do you get raw chocolate for the topping?

Daria I think you could try half sunflower seeds and half nuts, but at the end of the day it's not like your going to eat these every day...
so go on treat yourself..
