Yield
1
Ingredients
1 to 2 tablespoons hemp seeds (I use 2 tablespoons, but feel free to reduce or omit altogether)
2 bananas (frozen, broken into chunks)
1/4 cup fresh mint leaves (any kind works--lemon balm is particularly nice!)
1/2 tablespoon raw cocoa or carob powder
1/2 to 1 teaspoon maca powder
1 to 2 cups water
Recipe Directions
1. Blend hemp seeds and 1 cup water on high until frothy. This makes hemp milk; if you have hemp milk around, just use that instead of the hemp seeds + water.
2. Add bananas, mint, cocoa powder, and maca.
3. Blend until smooth, adding additional water only as necessary to yield desired consistency.
4. Garnish with more fresh mint and enjoy!
Ultraflora's Thoughts
By ultrafloraThis is a delicious, somewhat 811-compatible version of a chocolate milkshake!
So good!

thanks, guys!! yes, so many of the milkshake-like recipes are really nut heavy. this can be made very low fat easily too by omitting the hemp seeds (maybe putting in a little more banana) but I like to include em for some omega 3s. also, i've played around a bit using no mint. it's delicious simply without it, but i've also added strawberries, raspberries, etc. also considered orange peel.

Chocolate Mint Maca Milkshake
I just made this. Delicious! Try it with about a 1/2 tablespoon of Lacuma as well as the Maca. My goodness.

Using the flesh and water from young Thai coconuts instead of so much banana reduces the fructose and makes it really creamy, coconutty, and not so overly sweet (much lower glycemic level!).

aaah yes! I greatly appreciate this being nut-free, don't like mint so I will try it sans leaves. I can't wait! :)
