Ingredients
2 Apples
4 Dates
2 Handfuls greens - cilantro, parsley, kale, whatever looks good
1 slice or 1/4 small organic lemon, rind and all
About 2 cups of water
Recipe Directions
The measurements are approximate. You can use pears or other fruits in place of apples.
Blend all the ingredients until smoothe. Pour & drink. This will keep a day in the fridge.
It looks like pond scum but it tastes absolutely wonderful, very refreshing, sweet enough but not too sweet, and the greens color it but you don’t taste them.
Every single person who has tasted it just LOVES it, and we’re talking about meat eaters, SAD eaters. I have SAD eating friends who love these smoothies and make them every day.

auntsissy and LionMouse,
The trick to the texture is to use a good blender. I have a K-Tec and it liquifies everything. It's thicker than juice but well blended.

I made this tonight. Your smoothie was my very first! Never had one before tonight. It tastes good has a sweet taste and lemony zest. I have to get used to the texture though. I think they'll grow on me. Was I supposed to put the apple peel also? I think that's what's making the me not like the texture.

Sounds good, but would you call this a soup or what?

I loved this smoothie, and my mother (who is not raw) loved it too. It tastes like lemonade but better. I'm stuck using a weak blender this week, so I just used lemon zest instead of a lemon rind. I used the apple peel too, and it did give the shake a lot of texture, but texture is okay with me.

Ooops. I just noticed the recipe program changed my recipe from 1/4 small lemon to 1 small lemon. You do NOT want a full lemon in this!

I like that idea of adding lemon. I've been using kiwi which reminds me of a lemon-lime drink but I will try this one.

No, it's a smoothie. Sometimes I put apples, dates and greens in the Cuisinart and create a green pudding or green applesauce, which is also good. But this is a real smoothie. It is sweet and the lemon wakes up the flavor.
