Yield
Serves 1-2
Ingredients
3 avocados (well-ripened)
2 tablespoons virgin coconut oil
4 tablespoons raw cocoa powder
Sea salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (non-alcoholic or alcohol free) or a vanilla bean (scraped)
Raw agave (to taste)
1 raspberry
Recipe Directions
1. Process all ingredients in the food processor until silky smooth. Be careful because if you overprocess, it can get grainy. Refrigerate.
2. If you want it like a traditional mousse, refrigerate the avocados, make the mousse, and eat right away.
3. Garnish with a raspberry.
Geespeen's Thoughts
By geespeenFor all you chocoholics out there, you don’t “wanna” try this, you gotta try this! Simply decadent!
There are many variations of this desert, but this recipe seems to have the best overall taste/mouthfeel.
Serve to someone you love in a beautiful glass. Do not use vanilla with alcohol as it will ruin the flavor altogether!

Looks like a great recipe. I have used a similar one but now I'll have to try this one since it looks so velvety. The only problem I see with your presentation as pictured is that it would be hard to get my tongue all the way to the bottom of the glass! ;-)

hi randommara, i had the same problem. now when i make it i end up using abour 3/4 of a cup of cacao powder, two avocados, 1/2 cup honey & 5 dates.
i think greenspee is doing something different or not using so many avocados because the measurements don't make sense.
i now freeze mine to an ice cream and its keeps for up to 2 weeks.

Indysay's Review
Heavenly Chocolate Mousse
Sooo creamy and GOOD!!!
Agave: I added probably close to 1 cup in addition to 1 T of honey based on a recommendation from another member.
Coconut oil: Added about 3 T.
Cinnamon: Yes.
Cayenne: I'm really into the Mayan chocolate thing, so I added some of this too, Love the bite!
Almond Milk: I don't have a vitmix, so adding about 1/2 cup of this into my Kitchen Aid blender helped get things moving.
Kids: I have a 3.5 and 18 month old, and they loved this (I made a batch w/o cayenne pepper)...they gobbled it up!!
Favorite thing about this recipe: It's Soooooo deliciously creamy, and easy to make!

Mine tasted strongly of avocados and stayed green no matter how much cacao I added. I finally ended up with something dark grey-green that was too bitter to eat. I was using Sunfoods cacao too! Why didn't it work?

I just made this again and ate it with a beautiful fruit salad-so I felt compelled to add a photo! Thanks sooo much for this recipe! YUM
forrestlyone-I completely agree! I've got a pretty intense cacao high happening right now lol ;)
srumzis-I stored mine in the fridge for 4 days and it was fine. I'm not sure if I would store it for much longer than that. It seemed to change taste a little on the 3rd day.

LOL bronwyn I can totally relate! when I make it I usually overindulge and feel a bit sick after...the 1st time I told myself "it's so healthy for me" and eat like 3 bowls. too much but it was worth it!

yescathyis & bronwyn - Your avocados may have been larger? Also, some brands of cacao are more potent & darker colored than others. I like the Sunfood brand - good, dark, & never makes me sick. :) Navitas Naturals made me sick.

Don't the avocados just make this so delicious and smooth! My recipe I use is similar and I have the same problem with your glass, my tongue wouldn't reach it all too, but that's what fingers are for. Haa haa

i made this last night, it was delicious. i ate too much and felt pretty sick though, haha. i definitely need to learn moderation, lol. i made it without the vanilla and raw honey as opposed to agave. i used one avocado to 2 tablespoons of cacao and it was still not as dark as yours? not sure why. thanks for this recipe! :)

I tried this last night and loved it! But it didn't look like chocolate. It had a very green hue. How are you making it look soooooooo brown?

Did you know if you put this in molds and freeze it it becomes like a chocolate bar? I do it without coconut oil. I'll post the recipe sometime.

YUM! I've made this before and it is so good! I love Avocados and almost enjoy them more as a dessert.

One vanilla bean adds a great backround and rounds out the flavor...I gave this to some people at work tonight telling them only it was chocolate mousse, and they refused to believe this was made from avocados... It was pretty funny..
