This turns out really fluffy.  Has that French toast texture but only better! Simple and satisfying for brunch or dessert. Pair it with some fresh orange juice or some fresh fruit.

Recipe Directions

1. Grind flax seeds in a coffee grinder to get a flour-like consistency.

2. Add apple juice, raisins, and spices.

3. Dehydrate for about 6 hours.

4. Sprinkle cinnamon on top and drizzle with agave.

i hope i remembered all the ingredients correctly, i might have added a handful of pecans ground up too. i used a coffee grinder a blender and my toaster oven (it actually goes down to 100 degrees)

after i blended it, i slowly added more of the flax seed to thicken it up, it really gets doughey/ sticky. come to think of it i might've added 3 dates in there too.

either way the combination of flax and juice really makes it fluffy.

This looks great. I have some questions:

When you add the apple juice, raisins and spices to the ground flax seeds, do you mix it by hand or in the food processor?

What consistency are you going for?

How many trays full of french toast does this make?

Do you cover the whole tray or make them into separate squares when you place them on the tray?

I'm looking forward to making these and want to make sure I am doing it right.

Thanks!

This was soo good for brunch today. I ground the flaxseeds on their own, and hen mixed by hand with the remaining ingredients. My batter was drier than usual batters, but still perfect for forming breads so I only had to dehydrate it for 2 hours.

I just had these for lunch. I didn't have golden flax either. As good as they were, I'm looking forward to trying them with the right ingredients. I had some organic apple juice so I used 1 1/4 cup instead of juicing the apple. I used my food processor, and put the raisins in at the end, giving just a quick pulse to incorporate them. I'm going to try using apple cider next time!. Thanks for a fantastic recipe!

I made this a little differently (juice from oranges instead of an apple, and some agave in the batter), but it's really good! I'll likely be eating it all day.

Stylistchick, thanks for this. I didn't have golden flax, so I made it with the flax seeds I had. It is in the dehydrator now and I can't wait for my afternoon snack. The batter was heavenly, I ate what was left in the food processor, yum!

I thought I'd said goodbye to fluffy bread, but this looks promising!
