Ingredients
- 1 cup tomatoes (chopped)
- 1/4 cup cashews
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 small clove garlic
- 1/2 cup more diced tomatoes (reserve - do not blend)
Recipe Directions
- 1. Throw all ingredients (except last 1/2 cup of tomatoes) in a high-speed blender and blend up 'til nice and smooth and well mixed. You can let this raw tomato soup recipe blend in the Vitamix or Blendtec blender for a little extra time so that the heat of the blades and the friction actually warm up this delicious, creamy raw tomato soup recipe.
- 2. Transfer raw tomato soup to a bowl. Add the remaining 1/2 cup of diced tomatoes and mix gently with a spoon.
- 3. Garnish the raw tomato soup recipe with sunflower sprouts! Eat immediately.
The Rawtarian's Thoughts
By The Rawtarian Raw tomato soup recipe - Does that sound tasty to you? For some reason I was really turned off by the idea of raw soups for a long time. For two years, actually! I was turned off of raw soups because I once made a raw vegan beet soup that was very gross and watery!
But I finally gave raw soups another go and was pleasantly--and I mean very pleasantly--surprised by my raw tomato soup recipe!
What I like about this recipe is that it's so easy. I mean, you've got tomatoes and cashews, basically. Can't get much easier than that!
A lot of other raw tomato soups call for avocados, but I like this recipe because I always have cashews on hand in my pantry so I can make it any time--rather than having to make sure I have a perfect avocado on hand.
This raw tomato soup recipe makes a nice big bowl for one person. :)

Hi Kjones,
My answer is, it depends on the recipe and the nut - more info here :) https://www.therawtarian.com/rfp05-nut-substitutions

I'm wondering if any other nut may be substituted for cashew? Almond maybe?

Raw tomato soup recipe
Just finished licking the bowl and now staring confoundedly at how to get my tongue to the bottom of the vitamix without causing harm. WOW! I recently came off of a 40 day water only fast and have been looking for recipes like this to help me re-enter the food world. I added 1/2 a small avocado and chopped peppers for garnish. My tiny tummy can't take any more, but ohhhhhh am I looking forward to the next cashew based soup!!!! YUMMMMMMY

Hi Tavia,
Do not use almonds - they are too pulpy.
You can use cashews, macadamia nuts or 1/2 an avocado instead - all of these give a nice creaminess

Raw tomato soup recipe
We substitute sunflower seeds if we ran out of cashews. It makes a thicker soup, but not as sweet as with the cashews. We tried it with half cashews and half sunflower seeds, turned out excellent!
Thank you for wonderful recipes.
We have been doing raw for almost three years. I was taking $1000 of meds a month. Now, I do not take any medications.

Is it the cashews that give it a cream color?

Raw tomato soup recipe
I made this tomato soup tonight because I didn't have much energy to make anything else, lol. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this soup. I can honestly say with no doubt in my mind that this is the best tomato soup I have EVER had. No high fructose corn syrup, no sugar, a healthy and authentic taste- this was AWESOME. I do have to say however that I like a sweeter taste for tomato soup, so I added about a tsp of honey, and that really helped. I also added a dash of onion powder and 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes. This is by far one of the best soups I have ever had. Thanks SO MUCH Mrs. Rawtarian!!!!!!!! :):):) I cannot WAIT to try the other soups listed on this site. ~ Rachel

I may have added a little too much salt but it was still good. But I also accidentally bought the salted cashews but I rinsed them before the recipe. But I'm still very pleased with how it came out. My husband my even like this "raw food stuff" as he calls it. Lol. Thanks again for helping me with my journey into the raw foodie world!

LOL, glad your husband is coming around to the "raw food stuff" Desiree :)
Next time, do try to use unsalted unroasted cashews. But if you must use salted cashews, omit any other additional salt.

Is it okay to slightly warm the soup? I mean just a tad, until I'm used to eating it cold. I'm just trying to incorporate your fantastic recipes into my everyday eating. Going 80% raw and 20% cooked. You make all your recipes seem so effortless to make and in almost 5 or ten minutes for so many of them. I've read page upon pages of raw recipes, but none seem to compare with yours for quality and time.
Thank you
Sandy

Hi Sandy,
If you let it run in the blender for longer than you would do a smoother (like an extra 2 minutes) it will warm up nicely!
PS: thanks for your lovely comments - you warm my heart!

Raw tomato soup recipe
This soup recipe is so good! Often times I read recipes and have all but 1 or 2 of the ingredients and then give up. I had all the ingredients for this recipe and I just gobbled it down. I used 3 Roma tomatoes, a fat clove garlic, lukewarm water, the salt, and 2 sun dried tomatoes and the cashews. It was so flavorful and the chopped up tomatoes at the end were just right for a nice bite. The only thing I will do differently next time is to use a sliver of garlic and no salt because I discovered the sun dried tomatoes I used were packed in oil and salt! A sprinkle of chopped basil or cilantro would taste fresh! Thank you so much for all your simple, tasty recipes! One of my biggest pet peeves is eating bland food. I don't care how healthy it is- I won't just force it down my throat. I think that is one big reason people don't do well on some raw diets.

Love a good fat clove of garlic, Lisa lol
So glad you enjoyed! Love it when you have all the ingredients on hand. I hate it when there's that one ingredient that throws you for a curve ball, like "fresh coconut meat" :)
