I love acai, but all of the ways around here to drink it are either blended with soymilk (Jamba Juice) or sweetened with cane juice and pasteurized. I was so excited today when I was walking down the frozen foods aisle in my local Whole Foods to find raw acai! So I whipped up this drink, and I am in acai heaven!

Just returned from South America and am so happy to hear that I can get frozen acai at Whole Foods. I have been going to my local juice bar that blends frozen acai with whole apples and a banana but it is expensive. Was just wondering how I can make it myself so thanks for the tip and I'll try your recipe as well.
AcaiRaw

After reading this post, I did a little research and found that Amazon-Mania is the only brand of raw acai in the US. Everything else is pasteurized. Powder is far from raw, since it is processed. They have 2 products and according to them, AcaiRaw is 100% raw and contains only acai and purified water. AcaiTwist is 90% raw and 10% evaporated cane juice, citric acid and guarana extract. Although I am 95% raw, I tried Twist and it is absolutely delicious. Nevertheless, I eat Raw every day. I blend it with raw cacao, a banana and a splash of apple juice (i juice my own). YUM!!! You can find it in Whole Foods in NY tristate area or you can contact them at http://www.amazon-mania.com for other retailers or if you want to buy it direct. In fact, I just had them ship me acai, as they're having a sale on Raw thru April 30th.

Hi, I think I saw the Acai in the frozen section of Whole Foods but didn't buy it because other things had been added, citric acid or something. Can you tell me if the one you bought had other ingredients? What was the brand name? Thanks cajcookie

David Wolfe sells the Sambazon Acai powder on his site. So, I am guessing that is must be raw then?

Looks good! I remember the Acai smoothie from JambaJuice too - it always gave me a jolt of energy. This looks great! I'll have to look for the raw acai.
