Recipe Directions

  • 1. Add all of the raw broccoli soup recipe ingredients (except the last 1/2 cup of broccoli) to your high-speed blender.
  • 2. Blend in your high-speed blender. Start blending on low and work your way all the way up to high. Blend for a very long time so that the soup recipe warms up nicely from the speed of your blender.
  • 3. Place your additional 1/2 cup chopped broccoli into a bowl. Pour blended broccoli soup mixture on top of the chopped broccoli. Mix gently with a spoon. (So you will have a creamy broc soup with some floating broc chunks, capiche?)
  • 4. Serve immediately. For an added touch, garnish with thinly sliced avocado.

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

As you probably know, I have a lot of raw soup recipes. My favourite raw soup recipes are probably raw corn chowder and raw cream of celery soup or raw tomato soup - so if you have never made raw soup before try starting with those!

However, I was recently craving raw broccoli soup, and I made this simple recipe. It did the trick to satisfy my broccoli craving.  But obviously you should only make this raw broccoli soup recipe if you actually like the taste of raw broccoli. :)

This raw broccoli soup recipe makes enough for one big bowl or two very small appetizer cups.

What high speed blender model do you recommend to make soup recipes?

Loving your recipes. I notice a comment about soup for breakfast... I eat all your soups for breakfast. I am finding it a challenge to drink green cold juices on winter mornings... so hot filling raw soups are perfect!! I still add in my chia seeds, pre & pro-biotics etc... so I am on the band-wagon.... soup in the vitamix for brekkie beats toast or cereal any day!

I thought the honey was a bit much, personally. I prefer broccoli soup to be savory and not sweet. Desert broccoli, anybody? The recipe is very good with an avocado instead of cashews, in case anyone has a nut allergy. You can up the lemon and add some lime, too. I put in a whole lemon and a whole lime.

I love how versatile this recipe is and that everyone has their own tastes and additions! I left out the sweetner. I added green onion, garlic, nutritional yeast, pink Himalayan salt and pepper. I didn't add raw broc after blending, but added zucchini chunks (since it is softer) and yellow onion dices! It was fabulous and my kids (ages 21mo and 4yo) loved it!

Hi Kitty,

Thanks for your feedback - I'm sorry that the soup didn't do it for ya!

I'll have to remake this one soon and let you know what I think :) It's been ages since I made it.

I love your raw recipes! I want to also make raw recipies for DH but he is alergic to nuts. What can I add to soups instead of nuts and seeds? DH is alergic to all nuts except peanuts (legumes) and also alergic to sunflower seeds and sesame. Any suggestions? Can I do coconut or oats? HELP! Thanks :)

A couple of tricks re: making soups creamy and delicious without using nuts.... Look for recipes that use coconut milk or avocados... these will provide the creaminess without the need for nuts and seeds :)

PS, FYI: You can do a detailed ingredient search on my website in a hard-to-find spot: use the search at the top (search for something, like soup), then click on the fork and knife icon beside the search box, then click the "more options" and there you can specify recipe ingredients that you WANT or DO NOT WANT.

Also, nut-free recipes here:

I hope this helps!

I add sunflower kernels to all raw soups since I don't have a dehidrator (yet) -- they replace the crackers and probably have less calories. I like broccoli, though, I don't look forward to feeling bloated.

I loved the "broth" of this soup, but I found that the broccoli mix ins, even chopped finely were a lot to chew in a soup. Any suggestions for other mix ins that might compliment the base of the soup well?

Hi Aquamarina, that is a shame. Some broccoli is sweeter than other broccoli. Or perhaps increase/change your sweetener?

This is my favorite raw soup so far. I make it often! I add a pinch of himalayin salt. It is very filling, but, I eat the whole thing as 1 serving. I really like your recipes, they are so easy!

I doubled this recipe and used half Cashews & half Pine Nuts soaked overnight for a more creamy texture. Substituted only a teaspoon Coconut Nectar instead of Agave for a healthier, less sweet, lower fructose & glycemic option.

I blended the nut base briefly in my trusty vintage Vitamix first to get an idea for the texture & thickness, I added some more water & thought it needed Sea Salt & Fresh Ground Peppercorns. Blended some more & the base still needed some more taste, added Dried Dill & it helped. Then it occurred to me what goes great with broccoli is cheese. Obviously being vegan that's no bueno. I used Nutritional Yeast and that did the trick!

My G-D the base tasted so good! Thick creamy "cheesy" nutty with hints of Dill, Sea Salt & Peppercorns. I had to keep myself from eating it straight out of the Vitamix! I added the Broccoli & Blended until warm (about 6 minutes). Served it up with the Chopped Broccoli & some spicy Radish Sprouts as garnish. My teenage son stated it was my best soup so far!

We found this recipe to be too sweet. Added a little lemon juice to each bowl and some smoky salt. We thought it was pretty good but may try omitting or halving the agave next time.
