Recipe Directions

  • 1. Place pecans alone in your food processor and process until the pecans become small and crumbly.
  • 2. Add dates to the raw brownie recipe and process again until the mixture sticks together and the dates are well processed.
  • 3. Add the remaining ingredients to this raw brownie recipe and process again until the mixture turns a lovely dark chocolatey brown. Stop processing before it gets too buttery. (There should still be air between the small bits so that you will be able to press them down into your brownie pan.)
  • 4. Dump the mixture into a brownie dish or small cake pan and press down firmly using your clean hands.
  • 5. Refrigerate this raw brownie recipe for a couple of hours. You do not have to refrigerate it, but it is much easier to slice when chilled. By the way, this is actually a raw brownie recipe that keeps its shape! So it can be good for serving to non-raw fooders because the presentation of this raw brownie recipe is good when chilled.
  • 6. Store this raw brownie recipe in the refrigerator if it lasts that long!
  • PS: For an even more delightful brownie, serve it with this easy, instant raw chocolate icing.

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

Raw brownie recipe -- finally, a raw brownie recipe that tastes like REAL BROWNIES!

I am quite surprised and amazed at how the texture of this raw brownie recipe resembles real brownies--especially after this raw brownie recipe is refrigerated for about an hour or even longer.

My husband thinks this raw brownie recipe needs chocolate icing, but I disagree. I think it's perfect on its own! (But it is true, everything is better with raw chocolate icing on it.)

You can also use this raw brownie recipe as a pie crust or as very chocolately raw truffles.

Good luck trying to keep this raw brownie recipe around for longer than 24 hours. This vegan recipe would be good for about eight small servings. Feel free to double the recipe if you want more or if you want to make it last longer. (I usually double it.)

Advanced optional tip: Throw 1 tablespoon cacao nibs into the mixture after processing and before squishing into pan for fun crunchy texture!

I didn't have all the right ingredients so I substituted with almonds instead of pecans and used coconut oil instead of coconut and it was delicious! Cant wait to see what it tastes like with pecans!

Absolutely works without the coconut! Just made a batch and totally forgot to add it. These are amazingly delicious! Sill definitely be making again, this time with the coconut.

Hello! Would this work without coconut? Or is there something I could use in place of it? I'm hoping to try out this recipe without having to run to the store for coconut :)

Hi Jessie, you can use hempseed hearts instead of the coconut. But if you don't have the coconut then you can omit entirely in a pinch. But it really is better with the coconut - but it will still work without it

I know this is a bit premature, but I had to type this before I get busy in the house & forget. I just finished making the brownies. I reserved just a little before putting in the fridge so my husband and I could taste it. I let him go first & after a few seconds he said "Wow. Those are REALLY good." Then I ate my little piece. OMG! I'd read everyone's comments about how amazing these are, but until I tried it for myself I had no idea. Holy moly, these things are unbelievable! I am making a batch for an elderly man I work with because I told him about them & he gave me money to buy ingredients to make some for him & his wife. I think they'll love them. I'm hooked! And they haven't even chilled in the fridge yet. :) I can't wait to share them with my parents, in-laws and friends. So excited! Thank you for sharing this recipe. It's pure, chocolate-y genius.

Thanks for your decadent recipe. I decided to take it one step further and instead of putting cacao, i put protein powder instead! The brand i used was Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard - http://helpforfitness.com.au/products/100-gold-whey-protein

Anyway, the recipe turned out really good! It wasn't overly sweet, but honestly, i loved it! My pictures of my version of clean raw brownies are here: http://helpforfitness.com.au/blogs/news/7320136-clean-raw-chocolate-brownies

Thanks again for your recipe

I don't have a food processor, but I chopped up the ingredients and mixed them with a fork. I must say YUM!! I will definitely be making these again. I may even get myself a fancy food processor. :D

Whew! Just made these using a hand-held "Perfect Chopper." Worked amazingly! I really would love a food processor now, though, ha-ha. I haven't gone fully raw yet, still not sure if I will, but I love incorporating these recipes into my (nearly) vegan diet. If I keep falling in love with these easy and cheap recipes, I may have to invest in some heavy duty kitchen appliances!

These were delicious! Thanks! For nuts, I used Trader Joe's mixed fancy raw nuts, because they were in the cabinet, and they turned out great. Everything else I did as directed. Great simple recipe.
