Yield
Makes about 2 cups dressing
Ingredients
1 cup cultured Real Cream Cheese (from my recipe page)
1 lemon (juice of)
2 teaspoon dulse flakes
2 tablespoon hempseeds
1 teaspoon dijon mustard (homemade or otherwise)
1½ teaspoon sea salt
1 clove garlic
2 tablespoon onion, minced
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon agave nectar
1 cup either water or oil
1 tablespoon nutritional yeast, optional
hempseed for sprinkling
Recipe Directions
Whir everything but the last set of hempseeds together in a blender until absolutely smooth. Let sit at least 1/2 hour or overnight for best flavour.
Toss with Romaine or Spinach, the extra hempseed, and hoemmade croutons, if desired.
Poemomm's Thoughts
By poemommYou won’t taste a more authentic Caesar dressing. This reminds me almost exactly of the creamy Caesar dressing served at Red Lobster.
The secret is in the dulse flakes, which give the secret ‘anchovy’ taste; and in the hempseed, which works perfectly here in place of parmesean. Your tastebudds will feel guilty.
You can choose to use either water or oil. Oil will give a creamier, richer dressing, but water makes it considerably lower in fat.
To make a Salad, toss Romaine or Spinach (I used spinach in the picture above) with the dressing and top with lots of hempseed. If you’re really ambitious, make some hoemmade croutons and toss them in, too.

hrmmm... I order mac nuts from bulkfoods.com - we're on a very limited budget, too. (They cost about 7.50 dollars a pound there. I order a lot of things, like goji berries and nuts there).
I've also done the cream cheese with almonds - be aware that you'll have to soak the almonds for about 12 hours to get them as creamy. You'll also want to make sure to use the 1 c of oil, and not the 1 c of water in the recipe.
An even cheaper alternative would be to use hulled sunflower seeds. When our budget is super tight, I use these. Make sure to soak for 2 hours, then drain REALLY well, and use immediately. At bulk foods they're about 1.98 per pound. The taste will be slightly different, though -- but still good.

Thank you poemomm, sunflower seeds are about were I am right now.
We have a good bulk section at our local organic market and I can pick up raw sunflower seeds at about that price sans the S&H (which always gets me when I order stuff)
It's a great looking base recipe that looks like it can be used in many ways.

The real cream cheese recipe looks good, but I cannot afford macadamia nuts.
Is there a more affordable alternative?
