I'm eating my jicama fries right now! Found the jicama at whole foods last night, boy was I excited :) Jicama tastes odd to me by itself but the rest of these ingredients really makes a big difference. I might warm them in my dehydrator for a few minutes just to see if they're more fun warm. But they're just perfect not warmed anyway :)

I've always been a fan of jicama; in slaws, salsa, chips, but never a recipe like this. These are fantastic!

I made this for tonight, my first time ever having jicama and it was awesome!! I didn't as much cpevoo and no cayenne, just added some extra garlic and I think next time I won't use as much salt!

I just checked to be sure that you are from Ontario because I am too and i finally found jicama at Zehrs. They go really quickly but ask your produce manager and he may be able to order some for you,
I am going to make these. Did you peel them first?

Ohhhhh the possibilities. I had read somewhere that the mexicans sprinkle with lime and chilli powder. The lime definitely adds a flair!

I skipped the cayenne and cumin and added a ton of powdered garlic and a little vinegar. Odd, but the same way I used to eat fries. I love jicama and am lucky to live in Florida where we have year-round markets.

So I just made these fries and they are amazing! Instead of all the oil though I used half the oil and added some apple cider vinegar to add a lil tang!

These are great! Thanks for posting a recipe that requires no electricity.
BTW, I only used 2 tbls olive oil and had plenty of "sauce" to coat the fries. I let them marinate for a while in a sunny window and then later I could not stop munching them. (I will have to remember to double the batch next time!)

I found a lot of fresh ones at Wild Oats (soon to merge with Whole Foods) the other day! I can't wait to try this recipe!

Really fresh Jicama are hard to find this time of year, don't buy them if they are even slightly wrinkled or soft, your best bet is a Mexican market. I love Jicama as is, but I have a one very yummy salad I have made for years, and I have made "fries". I am a liberal cook, so it is really hard to give recipes, as I almost never measure, and just play with my food my way. I'll try to post some, but I want to add pictures, cuz I love collecting goneraw recipes and the pics are great. Can I add them later?

I had assumed they were, but as with many such things, I can't be 100% sure.
