The Rawtarian's Mission - Healthy Food That Tastes GOOD

By The Rawtarian

In this video, The Rawtarian shares her life mission with you.

This is a short little video where I get all excited about what I do... My mission? To introduce you to a new way of "uncooking" - where healthy food actually tastes GOOD! Whodathunkit??

Video Transcript:

My name is Laura-Jane, The Rawtarian, and I have a very popular website that’s all about healthy eating, and I think it’s the most hilarious thing in the world because I’m not the type of person who ever cared about healthy eating. I always wanted to eat things that were absolutely delicious. I didn’t care about nutrition or anything like that and, frankly, I still don’t care a lot about the details.

But I became very well known in this world because I suddenly about 4 years ago was introduced to a way of eating that was completely—it blew my mind because it was completely healthy but it tasted as good as the junk that I loved.

And so that’s how I sort of fell into this world of so called raw food vegan eating. I really got into it about 4 years ago as a challenge to myself, and it was quite hard to give up my old habits, but what I absolutely learned and became so passionate about and I never anticipated I’d become really well known in this world. But I discovered you could make spaghetti noodles from zucchini. Okay, when I first learned about zucchini as a kid, it was eat your zucchini. I know it tastes awful but it’s good for you.

That’s the attitude that so many of us have been brought up with is that we need to eat things that are good for us, even though they taste gross and they’re green and they’re ugly and, you know, boring.

That’s not the way it is and that’s why I became so passionate about this because I suddenly discovered this world of food namely raw food and the delicious raw food recipes that I create and so many of my peers create as well. Like I said, I have this raw zucchini. It’s completely—it’s almost like a salad. Essentially what I have here is a salad with nuts on it. It’s just transformed in the way that we eat it. It’s zucchinis. It's tomatoes. And it’s a few nuts and celery in this here.

So I think we can all agree that this looks really delicious, but does it actually taste good. It tastes so good I can’t even tell you. So I think really what so many of us, and the big misconception that I really wanted to talk about today and get out there is that healthy doesn’t meanboring. Healthy can mean an explosion of those flavors that you absolutely love, that you want to get more of, that you crave.

This is raw vegan shortbread. No dairy. Like no gluten. You know, no flour. No butter. No sugar. There’s some natural sugars in here like honey or other natural sweeteners, but usually we sweeten with dates. I mean it’s a whole new world, and I really just wanted to debunk that myth that healthy has to be boring.

And I think one of the reasons that people fail when they try to go into healthy food is that they think well, I’m going to watch all my friends eat spaghetti and meatballs and garlic bread and I have to sit here with my iceberg lettuce and, you know, just poke away at it, and that’s not a sustainable way to eat. And there is another option.

So if you’ve been thinking that you know that you have to struggle with healthy food, you don’t.  it’s just that you probably don’t know or haven’t’ been exposed or haven’t been, you know, taught these different ways of cooking and preparing food that can combine amazing tastes out of very healthy, natural ingredients like fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.

So I implore you to give some, you know, really popular raw food recipes a try. There’s brownies, you know, apple pie, banana cream pie. So many things I can think of. Alfredo sauce made from cashews and the list goes on. So the one thought I want to leave with you today is just that there is a world of healthy food that does taste amazing and will energize you. Make you feel amazing. I think you can probably see the energy vibrating off of me right now because I’m so passionate about this, and I was never somebody who cared. I was just shown this world that so many people aren’t aware of, and I really think it’s coming to a head now, the raw food movement, and I’m really excited tobe a part of it. And I’m so happy to be sharing this with you.

So I really look forward to meeting you and you can make some of my recipes at therawtarian.com. And if nothing else, I really hope that I’ve inspired youto look a little deeper and to look further into nutritious food than those boring salads. Some salads are delicious, but the most of the salads that we have today in our normal everyday life are boring, and I think they’re boring too because this, for example, can be a salad.

So I’m going to leave it there. Thank you so much, and I’ll talk to you soon.
