Recipe Directions

  • 1. Place all crust ingredients in the food processor. Process until the mixture sticks together and the dates are well processed.
  • 2. Dump crust mixture into your pie crust/glass dish. Press the crust down firmly in your dish with your hands. (Crust is now done.)
  • 3. Add all banana filling ingredients to your blender. Blend until creamy and smooth.
  • 4. Pour banana cream filling onto the crust. Smooth out with the back of a spoon.
  • 5. Cover and throw in freezer. Ideally should be frozen overnight to firm up so that it can be sliced perfectly.
  • 6. This raw banana cream pie recipe should always be kept in the freezer. (It'll get soggy if in the fridge.)

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

I was inspired to create this raw banana cream pie recipe for Christmas this year. It is soo smooth, so "banana creamy" and just absolutely perfect. (Can you tell I am on a freezer pie kick??)

It's actually pretty fast to make - just a quick food process and an easy blend. Even a crappy blender should be able to handle this raw recipe.

Using perfectly ripe bananas will give you that divine banana cream pie taste. (You want to use perfectly ripe bananas - not too green and not too brown.)

If you don't do honey you can do agave nectar or maple syrup instead of the honey. Use the same measurements.

Enjoy this raw banana cream pie recipe! Isn't it pretty?

Hi Michael, mmmmmmmmm frozen cherry pie, yum! might need something to make it creamy - could you do half bananas and half cherries?
If you do make it, I would LOVE to know how it turns out!

Sorry it took me SO long to reply, Laura-Jane! You are correct, I used one banana and replaced the second with about a cup of frozen cherries. It turned out quite delicious, though not quite as cherry-y as I intended. I just made another one to bring to thanksgiving tomorrow :-)
Reading the newer post makes me want to try doing it with half cherries and half mango instead of banana and seeing how that comes out.

Nice as a Thanksgiving dessert! Half cherries and half mango?? Yes.... yum!

Also, maybe you could do 1 banana and 2 cups cherries for extra cherriness? Might be kinda $$ though re: the cherries.

Raw banana cream pie recipe

I made this last night. Our bananas weren't very ripe last night, so I subbed ripe mango for banana. We had the pie for breakfast this morning and it was delicious! My two year old daughter especially enjoyed it. I predictions it will be entirely devoured by the end of the day. I plan on making it again, with bananas tonight. This is a great way to satisy a sweet tooth. Thank you for sharing. I browsed through your website last night while up with my newborn baby and bookmarked many recipes to make over the next couple of weeks. Love, love, LOVE how simple you make raw "cooking"

This is all new to me. My daughter is on an autoimmune protocol diet, so we're learning to eat differently AND loving it. We were already pretty health conscious, but this is a whole new level of healthy living for us. So, we're learning to use dates to sweeten. I'm confused about whether or not the should be soaked or not. I buy them in bulk at Sam's Club. We've found some recipes will say to soak first and some will not. Our food processor is having a hard time with unsoaked dates. What do you do?

Hey Gina! I also had the same problem with you. Then I got an idea, combining my logic with cooking. Usually I put my dates in the microwave (HIGH) for about 45 sec to 1 min if it's out of the fridge and just 30 sec in room temperature. Guess what? I can crush my dates easily with fingers! If you soak it in water, the sugar my extracted and won't be as sweet as the original. Hope this helps!

Hi Gina, Generally I do not soak my dates.

In your case, I think you either need a slightly better food processor, more patience with the dates (and adding the ingredients more slowly so that your food processor doesn't have to deal with them all at once), buying fresher dates (medjool are best - just remember to remove the pits) or some combination thereof!

But if you prefer, you can soak your dates in warmish water for 1/2 hour before using, just be sure to try to dry them off as best as you can so that you don't inadvertently add too much liquid to the recipe. Also, if the recipe calls for liquid perhaps reduce it a bit since your dates will be wet.

Hope this helps!

One of the best desserts you will ever taste! Make the crust thin and let rest a few minutes on the counter. Just ridiculous
