The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

This is my first fifth raw Christmas. One of the most important Christmas food traditions in my household is eggnog, so I knew I had to find a suitable SAD eggnog substitute.

There are no eggs in this recipe, but the coconut oil is the secret ingredient that adds the richness that we all know and love re: holiday eggnog. (If you don't have coconut oil, don't use any other oils as substitutes. Simply omit it.)

Think of this as an instant raw eggnog recipe. It's very rich and festive. Enjoy!

I thought it was great :)

Nice to have a nut free option as nuts do not like my bf :(

I made it w/o allspice as had none but did not know it was a berry before reading these comments, been mixing my mixed spices up :-s

I am trying to make more nut-free recipes these days, because there are a lot of allergies and also people trying to reduce their fat intake somewhat. Stay tuned for more nut-free from me :)

Glad you liked the recipe, Chelle!

I just had this for breakfast. I think it tasted like egg nog! I have a running thing with a friend to see who get their egg nog the earliest and I compiled a little vid to rub it in his face. Can't wait to show him!

Lovely! Added some cacao to make it chocolatey, once again, another delicious recipe. Loving the oomph from the allspice, cloves cinnamon!

Josefina, allspice is a the dried unripe berry of a tree found in Mexico and Central America. It's called allspice because it is thought to taste like a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. You should be able to find it whole or ground in your grocery or health food store but you can use cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves instead. Enjoy!

Hi Josefine, Allspice is simply a spice mix common in the USA and Canada. if you cannot find it, you can omit it.

Allspice is actually its own little spice! I know, it sounds like a mix, but it's a ... berry or something, a dried fruit. I think they call it that because it tastes like a blend of Christmassy spices.

Tried the egg nog today. It doesn't taste like egg nog to me, but I like it! Next time I am going to play around with the spices and see what I can add to and mix around.

Did you spice it up nicely? It's the spices that make it eggnoggy

I actually have a Raw Nog recipe that is awesome and it has a shelf life of 5-6 days. The base is:

3 1/2 cup almond milk or cashew milk
1.5tbs agave syrup
1/4 cup date paste
.5 tbs hemp seed
.5 tbs parent essential oils
1.5 banans
1 tsp nutmeg
.5 tsp pumpkin spice
1/4 tsp himalayn pink salt

Blend together in Vitamix keep cold and enjoy for the next 5 days dependent on how fresh you almond/cashew milk is.
