Ingredients

¼ cup raw cashews (ground to a paste)
½ block frozen Sambazon Pure Acai
5 Deglet Noor dates
1 large banana (mashed with a potato masher)
1/8 cup hemp seeds (shelled)
Sprinkle of raw sunflower seeds (for garnish)

Recipe Directions

1. For the bottom layer, blend the acai, dates, and cashew paste in a blender and blend until uniform in both consistency and color.

2. Spread into a small pan about a quarter inch thick or so.

3. Put in the freezer for few hours until nicely firm.

4. For the banana layer, mashed banana into a smooth paste.

5. Mix in the hemp until evenly dispersed.

6. Remove pan from freezer and pour the top layer on the current one.

7. Sprinkle with sunflower seeds to add some crunch and proteins and put back in the freezer.

ooh this sounds great! fyi-- if you're talking about sambazon's frozen smoothie packs, they're flash-pasteurized so not raw. which sucks!

After reading another post on this site, I did a little research and found that Amazon-Mania is the only brand of RAW acai in the US. Everything else is pasteurized and/or contains soy lethicin and other preservatives. Amazon-Mania's product is acai pulp, which is the closest thing you can get to the berry off the tree. Powder is far from raw, since it is processed. They have 2 products and according to them, AcaiRaw is 100% raw and contains only acai and purified water. AcaiTwist is 90% raw and 10% evaporated cane juice, citric acid and guarana extract. Although I am 95% raw, I tried Twist and it is absolutely delicious. Nevertheless, I eat Raw every day. I blend it with raw cacao, a banana and a splash of apple juice (i juice my own). YUM!!! You can find it in Whole Foods in NY tristate area or you can contact them at http://www.amazon-mania.com for other retailers or if you want to buy it direct. In fact, I just had them ship me acai, as they’re having a sale on Raw thru April 30th.

feel free to use Amazon Mania's AcaiRaw in place of the Sambazon. the sambazon is the only one available at my local whole foods. :(
